View Full Version : K-town lodging??
If everything in K-town is really booked, then it will be Mannheim for the Minnesota Brigade. I suspect they will have extra trains running after the match.
And from what this map (http://www3.kaiserslautern.de/cityguide/1024x768.html) shows, the stadium (Fritz-Walter-Stadion) is within 250 meters of the train station, which will make it easy to move to other cities.

book hotels in kaiserslautern online here (http://www.kaiserslautern.de/tourismus/hotels_und_unterkuenfte/index.html?lang=en)
click on the "look for and book hotels", and then on the next page there's an option to "Search online-bookable rooms only", check that off and you can reserve for Zum deutschen Michel.
i got a single room with shower/wc for 30 euro
Seems to be all booked up now. If anyone else get's a good room and the place seems to have availability please PM me or post here...you'll be repped it's the least I can do.
Thanks,
David

Whoohoo! We're all set to go!
I So who else is staying in the general area of Lampertheim, Mannheim, Worms, etc.?
I am at the Nibelungen Hotel in Worms. Rental car at FRA airport to get to Worms, then drive or train to K-Town.
Worms trains dont connect well with Kaiser. I may have to drive to Mannheim to catch.

Yea, we're debating whether to drive or take the train. We need the car for exploring between the Czech Rep and Italy matches, but I also don't want to bother with parking issues around the stadium. By car, it looks to be about a 30 to 40 minute drive from Lampertheim to Kaiserslautern and about 3 hours from Lampertheim to Gelsenkirchen.

I am assuming they are going to have some park and ride options in and around K-Town. I think K has a large municpal lot (Messeplatz Karpark) with shuttles to the stadium, free with WC ticket. Not sure where I came across that though. Been to so many websites in the last 3 weeks!

Thanks for the tip. We might do that.
With all this driving in unfamiliar territory, I made sure to get the rental car coverage through Orbitz for just $9 per day. I just hope that the rental clerks at the Frankfurt airport aren't jerks. I was at the F1 race in Indianapolis last year and ran across a bigtime ass. You know how most rental cars have dings and scratches. Well, they documented them before I drove off the lot. I asked for a copy of his paperwork and he said that I didn't need one and that everything was fine.
When I returned the car several days later, the SAME EXACT GUY accused me of damaging the car. I pointed out that those were the dings that he documented earlier. After a call to his supervisor, he let me go.

Holy cr%p that sucks!
I rented a 4-banger 3 series Beemer from Hertz. I'm hoping they treat me right, but I'll def look for dings now before I drive off to the A-Bahn!

You did better than I did. I think I'm driving a mid-sized Opel. Don't run over me as you fly by.
It was a good deal from National though. Around $180 for eight days before taxes and insurance.
