this is what I think is gonna happen:
USA 1-0 Czech Republic (usa confident to go to the 2nd round)
USA 0-2 Italy (damn!)
then the match against Ghana, they will have enough with 1 point but USA will lose 2-1..after they were leading 1-0..and so they're OUT as the 4th team..

I think even the result against the Czech Republic is being generous.US would struggle to have the technical ability IMO.

Depends on the GD.

I wish the U.S. and Ghana well especially since Freddie Adu is originally from Ghana. However, the Czech. along with the Netherlands and Sweden are the most dangerous teams in this World Cup. Italy is methodical, sometimes boring, defensive but are always there. They just find a way to grind it out and win.In conclusion, U.S. football (soccer) is on the rise even since their unbelievable performance in 2002. I wish them the best but it's going to very very tough.
The bright side is the group C with Argentina, Netherlands, Serbia Montenegro and Ivory Coast is the best group (group of death) by far. First of all Argentina is the second best team in S. America and arguably in the top 5 worldwide. Netherlands are top 7 or 8 and very very dangerous. Serbia & Montenegro are nothing flashy but like Italy they are methodical and can get the job done. Last but not least, Ivory Coast is the best team out of the African teams; they are nifty, physical and extremely dangerous.

The US will go out in the first round. The Czech and Italians are much stronger tactically and individually.
The Azzurri don't have Trapattoni as coach anymore so even if Italy do underperform, it won't be as bad as Korea - Japan or Euro 2004.

You never know what happens in Cups. But if Italia is anything like last world cup, USA could very well get a draw or pull off an upset against them if they play well. Czechs are good but I think they may be a bit overrated! We shall see though. I feel the USA can get a draw there as well. USA doesn't need to be super technical to win, they just need to focus on teamwork and get the fitness guys out there. They can do it like Korea 4 years ago.
a) Italian and Czech players will be coming off a long season of 55 games
b) Half of the USA players will be in their best fitness in mid swing of their leagues

Czechs are good but I think they may be a bit overrated! The Czechs are a quality side but I don't think they are overrated. The way they were playing at Euro 2004, the Czechs looked like they were the real deal. It was only the ultra-defensive Greece who got in their way and the Greeks at that moment were at their peak too.

Thats true, how could I forget about that. Maybe not overrated, but definatelly not a team that is 'so' much better than USA that they will get stomped unless they play amazingly. I still don't know how Greece won that competition, IMO they are no good (no offense to the Greeks). Of course I only watched a couple of games mainly featuring France, Portugal and England

At first I was depressed about this draw, thinking that we'd go 0-2-1 (losses versus Italy and Czech R., tie versus Ghana). But now I relish the fight. We have good players and a good coach, and we're better than we were in 2002. This is a chance to see how good we really are, and I think we'll rise to the challenge by playing well and showing a lot of fight.
Predictions:
US v CZ ~ 1:1
Physical game with at least one penalty kick and a flurry of cards.
US v IT ~ 0:1
We'll play hard and look solid in tactics and execution, but a late goal will see us on the wrong side of the score.
US v GH ~ 1:0
Ghana's inexperience will be huge, but they will be unlucky not to score. I expect this game to be the most fun to watch as the Ghanaians let it all hang out and play to win.
I further predict that we'll lose out to CZ for second place on tiebreaker rules. Italy will show great improvement from earlier tournaments and pundits will be falling over themselves to revise their predictions upward of how Italy will fare.

USA 2 - 0 CZE
USA 1 - 1 ITA
USA 0 - 0 GHA
Advance with 5 points as 2nd place to Czechs who will get 6 (beating Italy and Ghana).

I think the American fans are greatly underestimating the Czechs. Honestly I dont think the US will beat Italy but against the Czechs-no way. They've got a very good squad. I know that this is their first world cup but dont let that fool you. Czechoslovakia's team was made up mostly of Czechs, not Slovaks. This is how I see it.
USA 0-2 CZH
USA 2-1 ITA or USA 1-2 ITA
USA 1-0 GHA

Czechoslavakia hasn't been a team for over 10 years. Unless I am completely lost and they had a combined team for years after the actually country split up. (of course this is really just a moot point of discussion but I'm interested if they actually did)
Not a good draw for the US obviously, it could be something like '98 again, though I think it more likely that the US will put up a good fight, perhaps get a point off of either Italy or the CR, but be playing for nothing by the time the Ghana game comes along, making that result somewhat pointless to predict.
Hey, we just didnt get the draw this time.

Did you see the Czech's without Nedved? They were nothing special. For all we know Koller and Nedved could be out when it's time for that match and then I could definitely see the US beating them.

If I'm not mistaken, our group qualifiers will ahve to face Brasil's group qualifiers...so if we end up 2nd in our group the USA will most likely have to play Brasil, and lose
