Sooooo... anyone know how I can get an .avi movie file into a audio mp3 for listening on my portable music player? (It's not not and iPod ;) ) I'm assuming once I've done that then splitting up the audio into the individual tracks would be possible as well??? Thanks in advance for any help.

This is the only method I can come up with and will work although there's probably a few easier options out there.

Get yourself a free sound recorder at download.com. Most of them allow you to record any sound played through your speakers in mp3 format. Here's the search results for the freeware versions.

http://www.download.com/3120-2001_4-0-1-0.html?qt=sound+recorder&author=&titlename=&desc=&dlcount=&daysback=&swlink=&gfiletype=&os=&li=49&dlsize=&ca=

Record the soundtrack. as one long mp3 file.

Get your free mp3 splitter here:

http://www.download.com/3120-2001_4-0-1-0.html?qt=mp3+splitter&author=&titlename=&desc=&dlcount=&daysback=&swlink=&gfiletype=&os=&li=49&dlsize=&ca=

I just tested them out and MP3 splitter 2.0.8 is crap, only lets you split into a file of a specified number of KB or splits it in half.

Slice seems better although still might be a little tricky. If trying slice, when installing the program don't bother with any of the other programs (uncheck all boxes). You might have to do some sums and write down exactly where you want the files splitting and cut a few times as it will only slice into files of equal length (I think) but you should be able to get there eventually with perserverance.

Alternatively, try out wavepad when installing slice. I had a quick look at it and was a little overwhelmed by it as it seems quite complicated. The interface is similar to windows movie maker but looks much more detailed. I'm not 100% positive that you can split tracks on wave pad but it does look that way.

One of the other programs available when installing slice was a sound recorder but I think that's only used for streaming media as I couldn't get it to work with an MP3. That could be because I'm thick and you may very well be able to figure it out but I'd still use a seperate sound/mp3 recorder for now.

Sorry to bug in right now, but can anyone please help me ? Ive made a littile video in WMM and everytime I try to save the idiotic program just shuts down, any help on how to solve this ? :(

Tried using that beast of a program for the first time last week. Freeze-up after freeze-up after freeze-up. It got to the point that I ended up saving my project after every single thing I did including after importing each picture/clip. It's a p.o.s. alright.

I even had task manager open at all times, just so I could hit "end task" on it and launch the program again just to save time 'cause it was happening that often.

Is it shutting down when you're trying to save a project or when you've finished your project and save it as a video?

If you're only having problems saving a finished project as a video maybe upload your finished project file somewhere and I'll see if I can convert it to a vid on mine?

If you can't even save your project as a .MSWMM file then I don't really know what to suggest.

That's me stumped..... Maybe try Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro as an alternative to WMM? There's bound to be keygens/cracked versions out there but of course I'd never reccomend that. ;)

OK, anyone good with HTML code? I know the basics but I'm kinda stuck on webforms.

Basically my boss wants me to update the Contact page so that the webform will send an email to us with the info from the form. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

OK, the oddest thing has happened. I can't get any torrents to download because everytime I click the link for one, the link times out. The program is still working because I can still seed the torrents I have, but no matter which site and what links I try, I cannot get a torrent to start downloading.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am not sure.. maybe firewall?

Or at worst perhaps your university has blocked the torrent sites from accessing? Just some guesses.

I'm trying to set up a network between a desktop PC and a laptop. I've done the wirless connect wizard thing where it asks for a flash drive, tlashes the desktop, asks for transfer and flash to wireless(laptop,) then flash and finish back on the desktop.

I've probably given the worst explanation ever, probs best ignored... how do I get a network on both systems? :(

Hmm.. well if you have wireless set up with XP it normally autoconnects for me.

Err.. well you have to enable to wireless adaptor and occasionally some kind of random radio feature then search for networks, no?

I followed the on-screen prompts, I finished them and it said complete, but nothing has happened and no change on the lappy either.

sorry for stupid questions, but I am confusing myself in your connundrum. :D But are you trying to set up a network to transfer files or just to access the internet wirelessly?
