Hmmm, already tried WMP and VLC, and neither recognized it. I guess I've just got a useless file then.

It has the 6 songs in it, all of which are WV files, and then it has a couple of tiny files with a WMP icon next to them, both of which are M3U files, and then it has three more tiny files that are CUE files.

Have you tried opening the M3U files with the location of the wv in WMP ? Because the M3U should be the playlist which the software should play ( I think, I have waay too much of a headache right now ;) )
If not that I have no clue how to deal with this

Yeah, I tried that and it wouldn't work. Should have never downloaded the thing to begin with.

I don't know if this would be the appropriate thread to ask this in, but it seems close enough. Does anyone know how, if possible, I can transfer things recorded on a DVR to DVD? Or better yet, how I can transfer recordings from a DVR to a computer, to transfer to a DVD? Sounds like a simple question, but I don't know the answer, obviously, so I thought I'd ask you guys. Cheers! :)

All you need is a TV tuner card. Hook it up to your PC (either through PCI or USB), and it'll give you inputs for all possible TV/VCR/DVD/DVR cables.

Whoops, I missed this one. JC, if you're still trying to do this, I've done it several times using my video capture box, which basically connects one end to the analog outputs on my Tivo (the Red, White, and Yellow connections), and the other end to either the USB or Firewire connection on my laptop. The one I have is similar to this: http://www.canopus.com/products/ADVC300/index.php

Which files? I've never had a problem playing standard mp3s on my iPod, but if you have WMV files or something it might be a problem. From Apple's website, the formats supported by the iPod are:
AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF
If you have files that are OGG or LAME format or something like that, they won't work. But the majority should.

There are a handful of other MP3 players in the same category as the iPod (either nano or standard) and around the same price, that's for sure. But they all have their drawbacks, either poor user interface or poor software for managing music. The other one being looked at now is the Zune from Microsoft, but its not out until next month, it doesn't have any better video resolution, and since its MS, expect the first revision to be buggy.

Sooooo... anyone know how I can get an .avi movie file into a audio mp3 for listening on my portable music player? (It's not not and iPod ;) ) I'm assuming once I've done that then splitting up the audio into the individual tracks would be possible as well??? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know anything specific, but I would say to find a program that splits the audio from the video... :D I don't know one though, HT.
Unitder- restart your computer.
