OK, here goes. This was intended to be a movie quiz, but because movies and TV typically draw from the same pool of talent, some questions will also involve TV as well.
I'll update this as often as possible, but there are a lot of you (I hope) and one of me, and in all likelihood you'll answer these faster than I can ask them, so please just be patient. As Obie did in the music quiz, I'll give you points if you suggest a question to me and I use it.
First correct answer to a question gets credit, obviously. Any reference to a movie winning an award refers to an Oscar, and any reference to a TV show winning an award refers to an Emmy, unless otherwise noted. No searching for these answers online; I'm doing my best to write questions that make that hard to do, but there's so much available that I can't make guarantees. If I catch you looking stuff up online, you'll be disqualified for cheating. If I catch you looking stuff up on IMDB, you'll be disqualified and I'll kick you in the nutz, because not only are you cheating, but you're also being lazy. :p
We'll start with some "which one of these is not like the other?" questions, because I like them, even though they're probably way easier than I think. I may or may not give partial credit for a correct answer that wasn't the one I was looking for. You need to tell me which of the items on the list doesn't belong, and why. Questions are worth 10 points unless otherwise noted. So, without further ado:
1) Which of the following Best Picture-winners doesn't belong: American Beauty, The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Rain Man, Schindler’s List, The Silence of the Lambs
2) Which of the following movies doesn't belong (5 points): The Running Man, The Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, The Silence of the Lambs, Stand By Me
3) Which of the following actors doesn't belong: Warren Beatty, Kenneth Branagh, Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Robert Redford
4) Which of the following movies doesn't belong: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Analyze This, Happy Gilmore, Lost In Space, Office Space, Six Days Seven Nights, Three To Tango
5) Which of the following Frank Capra movies doesn't belong: It Happened One Night, It's a Wonderful Life, Lady For a Day, Lost Horizon, Mr. Deeds Goes To Town, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington

I'll guess that Jimmy Stewart wasn't in Lady For A Day. Correct on American Beauty, but not what I was looking for, and I like my answer better, so 5 points to you and 5 points remaining if someone comes up with another.
Correct on Silence of the Lambs. 5 points.
While true that Branagh has never won a best actor Oscar, and that Jimmy Stewart wasn't in Lady For a Day, neither are correct.
10 points for Obie, questions 1, 3, 4 and 5 still open.

Rain Man was also an original screenplay, so I want all ten points.

It's A Wonderful Life was not a Columbia Picture. You get no points for Schindler's List being a true story, because that's weak. But I'll give you the 5 points I originally gave Obie for pointing out my error, because you're right that Rain Man was original. (I like being a dictator. A dictator who needs to improve his fact-checking, but a dictator nonetheless.)
Branagh not having won Best Director is correct. 10 points.
It's a Wonderful Life was not Columbia, and the rest were, so 10 points for that as well.
