It seems to me that if they want to inform everyone who participated in the pre-sale of the results of their application they will have to charge the credit cards and get approvals before January 4. The reason for this is some of the credit cards may not work or some of the applicants may change their minds. To the extent any of this happens, it will affect the answer they give to those at the tail end of their application list. It would seem a logical inference that this means some sort of action will be taken ahead of January 4 that we can check (perhaps by checking charges on credit cards) to see what is happening. I wouldn't be surprised if those at the start of the application list see something this coming week.
Well if you will don know until JANUARY 04 if you get tickets or not..
they will not inform people in advance...

My guess is that there has to be the lag between Dec. 12 and Jan. 4. Although they probably know how many they're getting from FIFA, they don't know how many are parsed out to USSF honchos, big donors, etc. The remaining ones go to the list of average fans.
For example, if some foundation or corporation regularly grants the USSF a few million dollars, they're probably going to get some tickets in return. The jockeying from those donors will take a little while as well -- "how many Category 1 tickets did you expect, Nike? 50 per game? How about 25?" Etc. That's a process that interferes with the divying up to the Dec. 12 list.
I have friends who are supposedly going through connections to McDonalds because that's a big FIFA sponsor. If the US tickets come out of the USSF allotment, that's something which is probably being figured out now.

Call our Kaiser Franz, he is very very nice...:)
Does Franz answer the phone? Return calls?
Amy is a very nice, in fact, wonderful person who works in the USSoccer offices in Chicago. Among the many hard workers there, she stands out for identifying herself to the many friendly callers who inquire daily about such mundane matters as receipt of faxes & FedExes, confirmation numbers, e-mail address and tickets to USMNT matches for Germany'06! (& I'm not just saying this to ingratiate myself!)
We all known Franz is very nice, but until someone posts that Franz has called them to update their ticket info, Amy is our best friend. Franz ist Kaiser, aber Amy ist Kaiserin!

I hope many of you gets tickets...so many US fans come to GERMANY!!

THOUSANDS of soccer fans face a nervous wait over the next few days to find out if they have tickets to the greatest show on Earth next year the World Cup in Germany.
The Football Federation of Australia's allocation of tickets goes on sale to the public today, but demand will far exceed supply. More than 100,000 fans could be chasing as few as 2190 tickets for the Socceroos pool matches in June.
The FFA and the Fanatics tour group have jointly set up a website www.ffatravel.com.au dedicated to ticket and tour sales.
Application forms went online yesterday and sales can be made on a first-in, first-served basis from 8am today. The FFA has advised people to send in their applications as soon as possible by e-mail or fax.
Fanatics founder Warren Livingstone said demand for tickets had been overwhelming, with more than 28,000 application forms downloaded by early yesterday afternoon.
"If you times that by four (the maximum allowable ticket allocation per form), that's potentially 112,000," he said.
But he warned that the majority of those hopefuls would be disappointed. The FFA has been allocated only 2190 tickets for the first match against Japan in Kaiserslautern, 3630 for the blockbuster against Brazil in Munich, and 2662 for the clash against the Croatians in Stuttgart.

Did the USA get a larger number?

I would imagine that the USSF got the same allocation for Kaiserslauten as their Australian counterparts did (8%). FIFA has advertised that each nation would get 8% of the 'available' tickets. The stade at Kaiserslauten holds 41,170 (gross) but FIFA has estimated the Purchasable Ticket Capacity of Group stage matches to be 37,084. Well, 8% of 37,084 is 2966, not 2190. So, it appears that the Aussie Soccer Fed. held back ~775 tickets for their own use, and won't be selling those to their fans. Not sure how many USSF will hold on to.
