Just for fun, I'd thought I'd post screenshots of my FM2006 Real Madrid squad, and everyone can comment and generally have a blast :)
Edit: Damnit something's wrong with my cd rom drive, brb.

Why did you sign Frey?

You got rid of Soldado? He turns into my most scoring striker in the 3rd season.

Why did you sign Frey?
In case Casilias gets injured. And Frey was very very cheap. Actually I play Iker 2/3 of the time. In FM, it seems no player can be played all season. They will be "tired". And I simply have two players for each position.
One year ago, I played FM2005 and got this: 143 league goals. Absolutely no cheats or Save/Load. :)

How do you pull off successful wins? (and 143 goals) I've had to resort to save/load a while back to save blushes against modest teams.

lol i have been manager of real madrid for 11 years, spent 556,000,000 on players and sold players for 190,000,000. I have won the league title every year and have been the best team in the world consistently, winning the most reent final 5-0:

My main target is to buy youth players, i bought Gimenez for 8m, and bought a player called bojinov for 7m, then sold him a year later for 42.5m to buy Joaquin and several other players (I sold joaquin though, he never really performed well enough)

Oh yes! In FM2006, many B team players are very good.
Soldado is brilliant! Even Juan Fran performed better than Joaquin who I bought for 33M pounds.
Chinky24, I just wonder how you got C.Ronaldo, Tevez, Kaka, Joaquin, Sneijder, Kompany, Mascherano, Diego, Petrov and Owen in 2 years... It must have cost you a LOT. :D

I've traded a lot of players. Deco was signed on a free transfer and then traded for Kaka, Beckham, Jotha, Pablo Garcia and Gravesen are all playing for Man U. Somehow Guti is now Newcastle, and most of the old squad's been sold. I plan on getting rid of Ronaldo or Raul and buying Adriano or Torres (who are not overrated in FM :) ) but generally I've sold a lot to fund my transfers and I do a lot of deal cancelling to get my prices lowered.

yea, C24 said, cancelling and lowering transfer fees can really help. I managed to cut a deal from 12m to 7.25m buy lowering and adding a friendly etc

I should start a Real Madrid game. I'm currently managing Valencia.

Torres didn't want to sign for me after I finally managed to get Atletico to consider selling the player. :( Oh well, got strikers enough.

Get 2 good players for each spot & rotate.
My proudest purchase: Javier Mandaluniz (Goalie) Cheap as Hell (below 100k, probably less when you buy him in the first season) could easily be my first goalkeeper. Plus gives me another Spanish spot in the CL. He's also the sub for Casillas in the national team now.

Noticed that stats doesn't mean everything. His stats don't look too great as far as world class keepers go, but he does look like one in the game itself. Same with Soldado, who looks average but is my top scorer and top assist giver. While a player like Rafael Sóbis looks like absolute class from his stats, but plays pretty average.

I have amazing stars for every position who is capable of doing amazing things by themselves. I guess I suffer from the Florentino Perez syndrome. On a good day, I kill lesser teams 4-0, 5-0, and dominate the entire match with classic moves, but sometimes the whole team plays godawful and I have to reexamine every player.
It just pisses me off that I spend millions and millions to have 2 world class players in each spot and have them sometimes underachieve against Alaves.

Plus, asymmetrical tactics can be dodgy in general. If I were you, I'd just play a straight up diamond 4-4-2 with d'Alessandro or Tevez in the hole, Mascherano at d-mid, and a forward line consisting of the Beast (with Hold Up Ball instructions, direct passing, and set as a target man) and a goal-poacher like Raul or Owen.

Erm.. I see. I think the original squad is already very good in FM2006.
As for me, I always have 2 and only 2 players for each position. Too many players for a same position will cause unhappiness. Ronaldo is always guaranteed a starting place whenever he is fit ( until he was 33 and unhappy, I sold him to Zaragoza). I use a simple 4-4-2 Diamond formation. DMC hold the ball. Flank players all run forward. DC is the most important position in FM, and I always use Ramos and Kompany if they are fit. I also have strong backups for them, like Woody.
I feel in FM2006, young talents performs far better than established superstars. Betinho, a young Brazilian, was the best I ever used. Usually I buy players with a media reputation like "next emerson" or "next Ronaldo". I also track their performance. Good players always have great forms. As I was Brazilian NT coach, I can try young talents in the Olympic games. Later I will buy them at 18 or 19, throw them into B team for 2 seasons until they get unhappy. Then I promote them to the 1st team and at about the same time they will have obtained EU passport.;)
I think FM2006 is the most easy one in the series. In FM2005, I was often beat by Italian teams in CL. But in FM2006, with my strong squad, I won 4 consecutive CL champions. ( which made me feel the game is dull and unrealistic.) Then I resigned and went on to coach Cruzeiro. Here is the record of RM when I just resigned.

The league is really too easy to win once you get the hang of the game, I've won the CL all three times so far with Madrid, but that one is harder to get. Funny enough, the only prize I've lost so far was the World Cup for clubs.....and it wasn't even in the final, but already in the first game against non-South American opposition.

Well, losing happens. I've lost against lesser teams as well, but the rotating works for me in the end when you still get the league with games to spare.

Gonna start a Real Madrid game now. Does anyone think I should sell Ronaldo? I'm going to keep hold of the Beast.
