To me it will be Edison Mendez, He was selected in the all Conmebol starting 11, has Scored 6 goals in WCQ'ing and assisted many other goals, to me he will be surprise to the group..

Ballack is undoubtedly the best mid in group A. If he plays to his maximum abilities, that is another question..

Ballack definitely. He does everything and does it well. He's the key to most everything good within German National Team. You only have to see how important he was to Germany in WC 2002 to see how good he is.

It is Ballack without question. His consistant displays for both club and country are proof of that. In my mind he is the best central midfielder in the world bar none.

okay, Ballack is good, but let's not get carried away. he is the best perhaps in Group A in this position, but one player doesn't win the game, unless your name is Ronaldinho or Adriano.
Edison Mendez from Ecuador has to be one of the best. just watch some of his goals, and you will see why he is Ecuador's best player and considered one of the best midfield talents from South America.

I don't think we're carried away to be honest with you

The question was "Who is the best midfielder in Group A?"

The answer is Michael Ballack. He is the heart and soul of this team. We're just analyzing him.

I don't know much about Edison Mendez or the other midfield players in our Group...but to be fair, there's probably a good reason why they're not considered World Class and Ballack is.

But these players are certainly players to watch and players Germany and the rest of the group must take heed of.

well. to tell tell how good Mendez is, he was voted in the best midfield team in South AMerican qualifiers, a team that Kaka missed.

I know Ballack well, I seen him play, he is excellent, but there are eleven players on the field, one player doesn't win the game alone.

Actually, Ballack isn't that "great" as he is in the international or German media. I think that Tim Borowski for example, who plays an excellent season with Bremen, could become an important factor for our team in the World Cup. But well...we have to see.

Borowski's having one hell of a season right now, and Ballack's having a very poor season, this much is true. However, on peak form, Ballack is still better than Borowski.

We'll see come WC time which of these players are in top form.

Michael Ballack obviously!

I also admire Desiler.

but i'll give you this 3 CR'n names

1-Walter Centeno, saprissa's brain, he is our key player, he played in Greece (AEK) a few years ago.
2-Cristian Bolaños, scored vs Sydney in the CWC, he won the bronzeball in the cup also, he is only 21 years old and it seems he'll be playing in europe next season.
3-carlos Hernandez, the best long distance shooter that i've seen in CR, he should go to europe too.

All the teams have great midfielders!
But keep an eye open for these 3 Ecuadorians!
1. Edison Mendez as previously mentioned. Defends, organizes, passes well, has a hell of a shot!
2. Antonio Valencia (very young w/ full of skills). Defends, tackles really well, passes well, has a hell of a shot!
3. Christian "El Diablito" (little devil) Lara. Dribles anyone, has an incredible change of speed, passes very precised, does not stop running and always pushes forward. (some people consider him to be more of a foward than a midfielder, he can play both really well).
