Because that my situation.
I got my fax in on Monday afternoon, but I am just trying to gauge if anyone else is in the same boat.
Sice I got 3 weeks clearance from my employer, I figure worst case scenario would be just to try and get tickets along the way.

Absolutely!!
You almost have to! I bought my tickets about three months ago, and got hotels around two months ago. I just set myself in more central places for longer periods of time so I can do day trips for specific games.
Also, let me tell you - if you don't have tickets? It's still worth going.
I went to Euro 2004 in Portugal, and only went to one game - the Czechs vs. Latvia (I didn't pick it, that's just what I got). But I had SUCH a good time hanging out at the "Fanzone's" and watching games in parks and in Bar's that it was worth every minute just to be in the atmosphere.

I got my airlines tickets already--but I also wanted to make sure I wasn't frozen out of being able to use my air miles. My dad and I are flying into Paris on American Airlines, and it will only cost us $55 per ticket (plus 60,000 miles per ticket).

I haven't bought airline tickets yet, but will do so as soon as I get confirmation that I have game tickets. I do have my hotel rooms reserved, though. Refundable just in case. :o

Fed Ex arrived Tues am, so who knows on tickets. But I'm going, as are several others from the Minnesota Brigade. We booked our flight on Wed, flying into Frankfurt on Sat afternoon.

Yes-
Flight 106 from JFK to Frankfurt on 6/15/06 (not refundable)
Room in Worms (refundable; used HRS website)
Reserved Beemer at Frankfurt airport (Auto-bahn-bahn!) (refundable)
Tickets? Put in for US-Italy (confirm number 303x; got lucky after 3 hrs straight faxing!), so who knows.
The beemer is available for tailgating at Kaiserslautern. ********, it's just a rental! Who cares if some bier gets spilled in it!

A few weeks ago I spent $ 617 ($150 penalty to change w/i one year) on a RT from JFK to Dusseldorf on LTU. I am staying with a friend's sister in Stuttgart. I have little hope that I will get tickets through the USSF offer as I didn't get through on the fax number and had to send by fedex. I am willing to spend quite a lot of money (but not unlimited) to get a scalped ticket to the Czech game and hope that the Ghana/USA tickets will be easier to get at face value (uncertain at this point). My fear is that I will buy a scalped ticket and not gett into the stadium because my name doesn't match the name on the ticket. If I can't be fairly certain that I will be able to attend at least two of the USA games I may not bother going.

Leaving JFK around 5:45 on 6/8 to Hamburg. Meeting a buddy that lives there and will try to scalp tickets to the Argentina game on the 10th before make our way to the Czech game.
See you guys all there...in the parking lot and bars at least.

That's one way, right? I need to use 100,000 miles for a round trip from LAX to Frankfurt on Continental or Delta. Fortunately, I have enough miles on Continental combined with my American Express Travel Rewards account.
Now I just have to figure out the lodging and in-country transportation issues.
