Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu has lost his appeal to the Court of Arbritation for Sport over his sacking following a positive drugs test.

Chelsea are hoping to recover £8m of the £15.8m transfer fee they paid to Parma for Romanian Mutu in August 2003.

I can't see Chelsea getting ANY of that money back. Everyone hates us, Blatter especially. I can't see them ruling in Chelsea's favor to get 8mil back.

What does hate have to do with it? Why should transfer fees be refunded based on a drug problem? Unless Chelsea can prove that Parma knew about his habit then they don't deserve a cent, even then... a complete physical was done and that's a disclaimer of sorts.

wait... so Chelsea didn't do a phsyical prior to signing him? Or did they do a halfassed job. I'm not saying that in normal circumstances a physical would cover drug testing, because I don't know for sure - but if you are going to demand money back for an already completed transfer then you'd probably need to show that there was some falsification or some deceit on the part of Parma, because a physical is supposed to prove that the player is as healthy as the selling club says he is and in essence a deal can be shot down if agreed to prior to a physical when the scans or tests show something amiss.

Taking drugs has nothing to do with health. One can be perfectly healthy and a recreational cocaine user.
Honestly, read what you write!

No, what we really need is a player of the quality he exibited in the first few months of his time at Chelsea.

Anyone else think we jumped on the wrong side of track with the way this was handled?
As in, getting him sorted out and keeping the player, as opposed to sod off, we don't want you anymore.

When you look at Carlton Cole and then think Mutu could be there instead........

True. I still remember his goal against Arsenal 2 years ago.

I agree and thought so at the time. He was electric his first 2 months here. I didn't understand why the dumped him so fast. If you remember during the USA tour that summer, Mutu didn't play and the rumor had him being loaned out to Juve then. Maybe Mourinho just doesn't rate him.

Ok fine, so how does that equate to Chelsea getting money back for the transfer? The reason I bought up the physical because the only reason I could see a refund on Transfer fee is if there was some sort of deception on the physical that mislead the purchasing team but this is nothing of the sort.

Can Juve get Henry back? Juve didn't know that Henry would turn into a world-class striker instead of a flop left-wing.

Well, Mutu was considered surplus requirements when he went through half a season looking like he'd never score again. I remember multiple keepers pulling off great saves against him. Oh, and what would we do with Mutu in a 4-3-3? He makes Crespo look like Koller. He was surplus requirements.

chelsea isn't seeking compensation from Parma, but from Mutu as an individual.just like a player would seek compensation if a club sold him against his wish.

chelsea is not seeking compensation from parma, but from mutu as a person.cause he breeched contract.(guess there was a clause about how he's expected to behave) just like the case of a player being compensated when his club sells him against his own wish.
