How long are gloves suppose to last?

I'm new to playing keeper and bought some adidas gloves that had a picture of Oliver Khan on the box. After 2 games the gloves had pieces of the white foam padding falling off. Now, 4 months later the gloves have holes in them and the padding is completely gone on some of the fingers. I wash them with a little soap after every game too. I play about 3 times a week.

Also any general advise for someone new to keeper? I've finally gotten use to diving/sliding when I have to. Its fun! :D

I read a guide that said to use dishwashing soap, so that's what I've been using.

Welcome to the goalkeeping world!

Glove life depends on many conditions, such as field conditions, cleaning & maitenance, & most importantly, your technique. If your hands are used to get up you are going to tear & wear out the latex much quicker.

Gloves start to deteriorate on first usage, but if you clean them & take care of them, the grip should last until it is worn through. I usually get between 10-20 games out of my gloves before I retire them & move on to a new pair. Nobody ever said being a goalkeeper would be cheap!!!!!

A goalkeeper specific forum where you can learn about gloves, technique & just converse with other keepers is www.keeperzone.com.
