Goalie: Peter Cech
Defense: Italy (Nesta, Cannavaro are great)
Midfield: Brazil (Emerson, Kaka, Ze Roberto and Ronaldinho) The best combination between defense and ofense. Remember that Ronaldinho plays offensive midfielder in Brazil.
Strikers: Brazil (Ronaldo and Adriano. Do not let them touch the ball or they will make you pay)

I see people talking about England's or Germany's midfield... They are too conservative and defensive. Ballack is the only one there that has guts to take the ball to offense in control and actually try a drible or shot. Germany has always being a defensive team and as proven last World Cup...if you cannot score, sooner or later when you playing teams like Brazil, they will find a way to score on you.

Germany's midfield will not be defensive at all. You obviously haven't seen the team since Klinsmann took over. Deisler and Schweinsteiger are not defensive minded players, and their DM (Frings) is hardly a defensive stalwart either. They will be playing an attacking game, which could run them into trouble too.

W.r.t midfield strength, England has more talent in mid than Germany. We'll see if Sven can correctly utilize them though.

England may have more talent in the midfield than GErmany, but Germany's midfield works better as a unit. Italy and Spain also have outstanding midfields.

Japans midfield is pretty tight. Nakata, possibly Inamoto, Nakamura.

Talen wise I think the English midfield is the best. However, because Sven has had problems using lampard and gerrard together it may not be the most balanced mid. The German mid is very good and fun to watch. Very Offensive with ballack and Schweinie. :)

Yes as I said I choose the German midfield over the English one because all of the players play together on a daily basis apart from Frings who used to as well.

no mention of portugal's mid?

deco, figo, ronaldo, maniche, costinha

and a pair of award winning, solid CBs to boot in carvalho and andrade!

That's what I was thinking. No offense, but Portugal's midfield is stronger than Germany. Only beatable or equal by England, Italy, Brazil, France and Argentina.
Only Ballack does something and he's not exactly a genius.

Every midfield, and every team is "beatable," I hope Portugal is not thinking what you're thinking or it might be a repeat of 2002...

Of course not. It doesn't mean that just because a team is more powerful than another that is going to win the WC. Everyone knows that is relative.
I'm just saying that in question of talent, Portugal's midfield is stronger than Germany and are among the best ones I just referred.
