FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Another 250,000 tickets for the World Cup finals went on sale Monday, and organizers said 30,000 orders were placed within an hour.

Organizers said there were tickets available for 63 games -- all but the opening match in Munich between host Germany and Costa Rica.

Organizing committee spokesman Jens Grittner said 90 percent of tickets requests by Monday afternoon came form Europe, the majority outside Germany.

USSF made it seem as though we had better odds of getting tickets through them during the presale than by going through FIFA. However, I'm now afraid that I would have had a better chance of getting the tickets from FIFA. I would still like to go ahead and place an order through FIFA but I'm afraid that is when they will finally decide to enforce rules and both my orders will be cancelled.

I think FIFA accepts orders through mid-January and then there is a lottery.

If USSF makes decisions early enough, an order rejected by USSF could be resubmitted to FIFA. Right?

Good point. I forgot that FIFA was doing this as a lottery and not fcfs.

I know this is my plan of attack. Mid Jan by the 15th I believe, so the USSF better let us know before that timeframe so that we can enter into a new lotto

I just think people are inflating how much demand there is going to be for tickets to games involving the USA. Americans don't care, and Europeans think that we're not good enough to worry about.

I really, really hope you're right. But I'm a little more pessimistic.

That is indeed correct. The "sale" that started Monday was actually an application for tickets that you could submit online. This runs until Jan. 15, 2006 I believe. And it is not first-come-first-served. You submit your app. and then a lottery is held (at the end of Jan. 2006, I believe) from all the applicants who are then awarded tickets if their number is drawn.

From what I understand the USSF will notify by the end of December, 2005 whether you have tix from them. So for those of us who struck-out with the USSF (and I'm thinking I'll be one of them), you should have time to apply through FIFA. The time you apply will have no bearing, as all the applications will be thrown together for the "lottery."

...and if it works like it did for the previous lottery rounds, they'll release the tickets people ordered, but didn't pay for, back into the wild, one at a time, which is how a good chunk of us got our tickets back in August. Watch the ticket shop throughout February.

When is the USSF supposed to let us know if we got tickets? What are they waiting for if its "first come, first serve?"

Because he cheated the system.

From another poster...

"Dear U.S. Soccer Fan,

As anticipated, U.S. Soccer received a huge response to the ussoccerfan.com pre-sale of 2006 FIFA World Cup tickets today from thousands of members across the United States and abroad. Accommodations were made for the anticipated number of incoming faxes, however, as with any event in such a high demand, the initial start of an on-sale is the busiest period.

Please continue to attempt to fax your completed order form to the number provided - (312) 528-7049 – if you have not already submitted your order through another method. Faxes are continuing to be accepted as quickly as possible. On-line sales, in a format that U.S. Soccer was confident would provide the best service for U.S. Soccer fans, were not permitted through FIFA Regulations regarding Member Association sales of 2006 FIFA World Cup Tickets.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

U.S. Soccer "

Thousands, US Soccer has thousands of tickets available.

Thousands of members (anywhere from 1-12 tickets per member for the first round). If it is up to two thousand members we might be ok, but if it's over two thousand, I'm afraid many of us will be on the outside looking in.

I'm planning on trying for the FIFA tix as soon as I hear from USSF whether I got their tix.

I'm also going to be going for tix all the way up to the WC.

I have tix to the 3 group games, and already have my flights, so I'll be there through the final. So I plan to exhaust every avenue to get playoff tickets. And I am keen on getting them for face value through FIFA or USSF if at all possible (as I'm not rich...can't afford $1000/ticket or more).

I actually think I'm just going to get the 1st-round tickets. If I buy tickets for the whole tournament the US will get knocked out in the 1st. If I only buy 1st round-tickets we'll go deep into the tournament forcing me to spend $400 a game for the knockout rounds. I'm absolutely certain of this.

Bonji, after being frustrated like everyone else with the fax problems, rather cleverly went onto the USSF website and found a second fax number that was not on the application....

His application was accepted and he made the mistake of posting his handy work here.....where just about every DCU fan on BS went ballistic!!

Don't let'em get you down Bonji....

Hope to see you ALL in Germany...Even DCU fans :D
