I searched the forum and found we could use this thread....if there already is one, apologies...please merge.

The Reserve LEague(for those unfamiliar) is broken up into two leagues, the North and South.Chelsea is currently 6th out of 14 teams int he Southern League:

P W D L F A GD PTS

Arsenal Res 12 8 3 1 31 16 15 27
Tottenham Res 11 7 2 2 21 6 15 23
Charlton Res 13 7 2 4 23 18 5 23
Southampton Res 13 6 2 5 23 18 5 20
Fulham Res 12 6 2 4 17 17 0 20
Chelsea Res 12 5 4 3 18 12 6 19
West Ham Res 11 5 3 3 23 13 10 18
Ipswich Res 12 6 0 6 28 27 1 18
Crystal Palace Res 13 5 2 6 22 22 0 17
Coventry Res 11 5 1 5 10 14 -4 16
Watford Res 12 4 0 8 10 26 -16 12
Leicester Res 13 2 4 7 10 27 -17 10
Norwich Res 12 2 3 7 5 14 -9 9
Portsmouth Res 13 3 0 10 17 28 -11 9

On form though, the reserves are undefeated in their last 4 games(3 wins and a draw), climbing 3 spaces with a 4-0 win over Palace on the 5th.

Some regulars I have noticed in the highlights of games I have seen:
Lenny Pidgeley
Dean Smith at Right back 19 year old Englishmen
Jonas Elmer at left back 17 year old Swiss
Adrian Pettigrew-CB 19, England
Michael Mancienne-Cb 17, England
Anthony Grant-DMid 18, England
Joe Keenan-23, midfield, England
Danny Hollands-midfield, 20, England
Filipe Morais-winger, 20, Portuguese born, London raised.
James Simmonds-18, attacking mid, London
Joe Tillen-LW/LB-19, England
jack Watkins Striker-18, England
James Younghusband-RB/RM-19 England
Phil Younghusband-Striker-18, England(both brothers have been approaced to play for the Phillipines.

Elmer looks very pacey down the left, Grant tackles well in midfield, and Morais consistently looks like the most dangerous man on the pitch.

The last game for the youth team in league play was a 1-0 win over Palace, lineup:

------------------Hamann

Hutchinson-----Worley--Cork-----Bertrand

------------Bridcutt----Furman

----Cummings---------fernandes

-------------Watkins------------Sinclair

Sinclair crossed to Cummings who put it away for the only goal.

the U-18s then payed Norwich in the youth FA cup, winning 2-1. Worley scored off a 20-25 yard blast, and Sinclair added a PK-his 10th goal this season.

The last fixture for the Reserve team was a 4-0 thrashing of Palace on the 5th i think they linedup something like this(there is no true striker in the starting XI):

------------------Ma Kalambay
Smith-------Pettigrew---Mancienne-----Elmer

---------------Grant-----Keenan

-----Morais-------Hollands(c)------Tillen

-----------------Simmonds
-Hollands scored off a nice volley from the left hand side of the box.
-mancienne then scored a header off a corner
-Tillen with the third off a nice run down the left and a goal shooting far post from the top of the 18
-Sinclair then opened his reserve account, coming on as a sub, and scoring off a corner.

Lost to the yiddos in the last game.
Just watched the highlights on Chelsea TV from Friday...poor goals from our point of view.Pidgely at fault for the first, poor defense on a free kick for the second.

Away to Brighton in the 4th round of the FA Youth cup.

I've heard good things about Mancienne. He's a damn good prospect on FM 2006 too. :D

Reserves last match:

January 4th away to Fulham, 2-1 victory.

Filipe Morais looked dangerous as per usual, a nice looking playmaker. Phil Younghusband started a great counter of a beautiful first touch, feeding Elmer at leftback, who passed to Sinclair for a good cross.

Then a fine corner from Morais was nodded down by Manciene, and poked home by Younghusband.

Sinclair looked very dangerous in the box.

Morais again sets up a goal from a corner, Jimmy Smith the header.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The youth in their last match defeated Charlton 1-0, with a lineup something like this:

-------------------------Russell

--------Worley----------Cork------Hutchinson

--------------Furman---------Bridcutt

--Younghusband--------Fernandes-------Tomi Saarelma

---------------Watkins------Sinclair

Sinclair's 11th of the season won it. James Younghusband can play right mid or right back, Saarelma can play leftback or left mid, and Hutchinson plays CB or RB, so not sure of the lineup.

How many of them get the second bite at the cherry?

Losing to Brighton can't have been viewed favourably by the powers that be.

We didnt play that bad in all honesty. Sinclair was by far the best player on the pitch. Grant is on loan at Oldham for a month so couldnt play. Mancienne was called up for the Reserves so couldnt play. (so arguably our two most experienced players were out) Elmer came on only for the last 10m and almost had an assist (sinclair missed by a whisker), Smith is injured, and Cummings linked up well several times with Sinclair.

I dont know why we did this, especially considering it was a Cup game, but 6 of the players had only just turned 16. The Brighton side had a fair few bigger players in.

All in all, it was good experience for the lads. But of all the team on the night, I would back Sinclair/Cummins and Elmer to make it.

Very nice thread:) Methinks Grant, Elmer, Mancienne and especially Sinclair will all be Premiership players. Not sure if any could ever be Chelsea regulars these days. Apparently that Harry Worley youngster is like Huth, too. 6'3" while just 16 years old, I believe.
