I really don't see why this animosity started to begin with, but it's sad to see that a relatively successful immigrant group (iranians) should have to be racist toward another (mexicans) to try and look more 'respectable,' when in fact it makes you (the individual, not you're entire race) look like a bigger dick than vice president cheney.

It's probably the Germans. They have a lot of very tall players with Klose, Kuranyi, Ballack, Kahn, Huth, Mertesacker, Frings, Deisler and Lehmann all just about 6 feet or taller.

Has there ever been a scientific study done on the advantages of "height" in soccer? I would have guessed that being too tall in this game may even be a DISADVANTAGE!

If Mexican players are indeed shorter than other teams, who cares? Just look at how they play and what they have accomplished. They are a very fast, technical and physical team with a take-no-prisoner kind of attitude. Their forwards are very opportunistic and can score on you when you least expect them. Do not fool yourself with their stature, as they got it where it counts the most.

I remember the 78 final, Argentina and Holland. It looked like David against Goliath. Netherlands had some big and tall players back then, and they still do. But like Goliath they went down.

Of course, Goliath got his revenge in 98, although it was comical how the giant Van der Sar spectacularly went down when barely touched (if at all) by the diminutive Ortega.

Probably group C is the tallest group, in addition to being the toughest. The Dutch are tall, the Serbians are tall (they boast a striker who's over two meters), and Ivory Coast I'm not sure, but I would think they are also tall. I guess Argentina is the little guy in the group, but it doesn't matter, we'll still kick ass!
