As part of Radio Unica’s agreement with U.S. Soccer, the network will
deliver comprehensive live, play-by-play coverage of U.S. Men’s National
Team action, as well as select U.S. Women’s National Team games. The
coverage will be augmented with exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with
top players and coaches, and in-depth sports news and commentary. A team
of internationally renowned sports-talk personalities, headed by Radio Unica
sports director Jorge Ramos, will handle the coast-to-coast broadcasts.

Unica has serious credibility with Spanish-speakers of a variety of national origins. Any way to associate US Soccer with Unica can only be a good thing for US Soccer.
Also looks like all USMNT games will now at least be available on radio on Unica. That's also a nice thing for the odd game that otherwise ends up only on ppv.
It'll be interesting to see how many women's games they pick up. I don't think I recall much mention of any kind about women's soccer on Unica en Deportes.
Anyone know if Unica and MLS intend to continue their relationship in 03?

that is great news.
If you are american and know some spanish you should definitely listen to their play by play coverage.
you do not know great soccer play by play coverage til you hear radio unica. This is the reason lots of people turn off the volume of the tv when watching mfl games and turn on radio unica to listen to the coverage by radio (while watching the action on tv)
hopefully they can do the same with the u.s national team, which im sure they will.

Okay, great, they have the contract with Unica. Now when are they going to get a radio broadcast deal with an ENGLISH language radio network?!!! It would be nice to have in case I can't get to a TV when the nats are playing (e.g. if I'm driving in my car). I wish ESPN radio would go for it (and why not? they and ABC do the nats on TV), but then again that might be wishful thinking on my part.

I second this question.
And yes, NEK, it's wishful thinking.

You can also listen over the net by going to the main page and clicking on the word "Escucha" in the blue circle - about two-thirds of the way down the page, in the middle column. You have to register, but it's pretty standard, harmless stuff.
I'm listening online right now and will post anything if they mention the Canada game.

I would prefer it to be in English, but I got nothing to complain about. It's a start.
