I wouldn't worry about USSF screwing you out of tickets just yet. Regardless of other peoples' confirmation numbers, I find it *really* really really hard to believe that more than 3,000 people on the USsoccerfan.com mailing list plan to go to Germany. It's nothing more than a hunch, but though I'm number 80xx, I'd bet my life that there is NO WAY that 8,000 people sent in applications for this thing.

(I know I'm not the first to advance this line of thinking, just echoing what fidelere, unorthodox yank et al had to say.)

And as yet others have said, I'm going to be in Germany regardless of whether or not I get match tickets. What I've got set up will be the trip of a lifetime if USSF ********s me over or not. If I do get match tickets that will just be the icing on the cake but I know I'm in for the time of my life either way. Do your worst, USSF.

The real question is when is the "later date" on which USSF will inform us about tickets? January? May? I imagine a lot is riding on whether people get tickets or not.

You will know no later than 4 January if you got tickets or were put on a waiting list. Starting on the 5th, they put whatever tickets are remaining on sale to the general public.

Well I now know why I havent recieved my confirmation. Because my email was in ALL CAPS on my order form. I just sent an email to USSoccer trying to remedy. Hopefully, I'll not be left out for following directions.

I did the same thing, but sent them an email & personally called Amy, who advised that all was well. Remember, your correct email address was on the USSoccer notices, so it shouldn't be hard to fiond once the dust settles.

NICE! I like this line of thinking... you and I are in the same boat.

Care sharing your plans? I will be in the cities the US plays in on Jun-17 and Jun-22, but enjoying the sights on the off days. Thankfully, it is my understanding that FIFA has approved large screen TV broadcasts of games in larger public places in various cities through Germany.

Might have to hoist a stein of Heffe-Weissen with you, mate! :D

Capital letters are completely ignored when it comes to sending email. You can type an address in all or caps or all lower case or a mix of the two and it won't matter.

Could it be that the number is related to the number of tickets requested, rather than the number of applications? Meaning, if I am number 1000 and request a total of 6 tickets, the next person would have #1006. If the numbering started at 1000, and each application has an average of 5 tickets, that would mean about (9000-1000)/5 = 1600 people applied. Does this sound reasonable?

I hear you guys. I'm going regardless if I end up getting tickets through USSF or not. I'm in Koln (train ride away from Gelsenkirchen) 10-13 Jun (gotta check out St Goar and Bacharach while here), Munich 13-16 Jun (beer, beer, beer), Frankfurt 16-18 Jun (train ride to Kaiserslautern), back to the southeast on 18-21 Jun to check out Salzburg, Austria, and finally to Nuremberg 21-24 Jun for the final US group match.

Looking forward to raising many steins with my fellow USMT followers.

I still have not received my confirmation e-mail and the FedEx was delivered at 9:43am on Tuesday. I just called US Soccer and they said that they're still processing orders.

Am I SOL?

Could be.

I find it more reasonable that they have a number of different employees processing orders, and each employee is given a range of numbers to use, that generally are in order, but do not need to be. And then the numbers within the ranges are generally random, or have large gaps between.

I don't think the confirmation number really has any bearing on order in line.

Why would you say that? EVERYBODY who sends in an order gets a confirmation number. Yours will probably come sometime today.

You won't find out whether you made the cut for tickets until Jan. 4th.

I haven't gotten a confirmation e-mail yet either and I was in the 7:09 AM F. Furcal group. It looks like almost everyone else in that group has gotten confirmation. Needless to say I'm a little fustrated.

Do you really think that there are going to be over 3,000 American fans at each match next summer?

I, for one, would be shocked if that many people show up.

I disagree. There was a substantial number of people who went to Korea. With the success there and the WC being in Europe many more people will show up. The lure of a summer vacation in Germany, France, Switzerland, etc and watching the US play in a WC is a big incentive to go to the games.

Now I don't know how savy the general fan is, knowing that they needed to get their tickets in the first day for a good shot at getting them, but I have talked to a large number of people who have not seen a single USMNT game, but were planning on going to the WC. I'm guessing that they are not that in tune with the whole process so us fanatics should be OK with tickets.

One person I know got tickets from the first FIFA lottery to the first game only. He's planning on taking the trip just for the one game. He's never been to a game before. He might not have even gone to an MLS game and KC is only 3 hours away.
