I fail to see how one or two outliers changes the significance of all the entries on this thread.

Yeah. 90% of people who have posted have a confirmation number that matches up with the anticipated letter in the alphabet. There is roughly a one in 26 chance of that happening for each person and when you consider it has happened dozens of times that puts the odds that we are correct to about 99.9%.

All this conjecturing boggles my mind, and I haven't seen a lot posted about confirmation numbers with 5 digits. Were conf #s on day one (Monday, "fubar fax day") all 4 digits? Were conf #s on day two all 5 digits beginning with 10? My app was received on Wednesday and had a conf # starting with 20. As I understand it, that DOESN'T mean 19,000 tickets were ordered ahead of me. Correct? My whole conf # was composed of twos and zeros, and my last name begins with B, so that must jibe with the alpha-number hypothesis I've seen posted here and in other threads.
January 6th seems so far away. Ticket Epiphany!

Well, here's hoping you get tickets, because then we're all golden!

Well, for the 4-digit conf #s, what's the highest hundreds-place digit anybody has seen so far?

I sent am e-mail to US Soccer questioning why my confirmation number was higher than those that I knew to be recieved later than mine. This is what I got back.
Dear U.S. Soccer Fan,
Thank you for your interest in U.S. Soccer and the 2006 FIFA World Cup! Your receipt confirmation number simply provides a quick reference for U.S. Soccer to access your order and is not an indication of the number of orders received nor of an order's priority.
If you have further questions, feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you for your continuing support of U.S. Soccer!

Well, you know, the exclamation point really comes me down on all the emails they send out.

Mikey, you will be fine......
I did mine by USPS also:
U.S. Soccer has received your 2006 FIFA World Cup Ticket Order Form. Your
receipt confirmation number is 200XX
I believe the USSP starts with 20XXX, but can anyone else confirm who might have sent it this way?
Last WC, I did mine by US Mail and had no problems.

i also sent mine with usps, and i just received my confirmation email from ussf today! Dec. 20th, after some badgering, i know my package was received on wed. dec. 14th at 1140, so i was freaking out, looks like they just forgot to send my email. However, my conf. number is 9xxx and as i said i sent it USPS.

OK guys, here is a post that will hopefully help
I received a confirmation 8xxx on the 15th
My brother sent in a seperate request and did not receive his confirmation until today.
The last three digits on the confirmation were consecutive (i.e. mine was 111 and his was 112). If it is an alphabetical thing, it's reverse alphabetical because his first name starts with an E and mine with a "J"
We both FEDEXED our applications after trying for hours to fax them. Both arrived Tuesday at roughly 7 a.m.

I faxed my application on the 12th, and still haven't received any confirmation email. Should I be worried? Has everyone already received their confirmations? Is anyone still waiting?

Call USSoccer @ 1-312-808-1300. Ask for Amy. Politely explain your problem. She will help you. Thank her. Tell her she's great.
Your email may have been returned, as was mine (my own fault). It can be resent. You can print it out & hug it.

I had a similar situation... I was told to wait until Monday if I didn't receive word. I emailed tickets@ussoccer.org yesterday. They asked me to fax everything that I had sent on Mon, Dec-12 along with any documentation that I did in fact attempt to fax it... I sent them the fax log sheet I printed out.
I also thought my fax was successful, but found out there was an error in the process. US Soccer emailed me today once they had received all my proper documentation and told me that my original time of faxing (4:13pm Monday Dec-12) would be honored. Best got-dan news I have heard ALL week!!!
Moral of the story: plead your case, but don't over-plead it, and you shall receive.

If that's 4:13 Central Time, congrats! (i.e, you're just behind me)
If that's 4:13 EST, you suck!

My fax went "through" at 1:15 on Monday, but apparently was not "received". I sent documentation and received #10**. My last name begins with K.
