After finding out the group we're in (Group E), I'm not so sure it'd be wise to buy anything past the group stage tickets right now. I want to be optimistic about how we'll perform, but I also HAVE to be realistic as well.

I think I'm just going to buy CAT III tickets for the group stage and maybe the Round of 16. If you look at the schedule, the Runners Up from Group E (which we would probably be if we advance) have to play the Winners from Group F (which would probably be BRAZIL!).

If you buy tickets from USSF, and the US fails to advance, do you get a refund on the unused tickets???

Well, to answer my own question, according to the US Soccer website:

"If the U.S. does not advance to a match requiring Conditional tickets, refunds will be applied to the same credit or debit card, less a handling fee of five (5) Euros"

See also here (http://www.ussoccer.com/schedule/content.sps?iType=4165&icustompageid=16109)

So handling fee aside, I guess there is no harm in getting tickets even if you don't think the MNT will make it to that particular match.

I'll be buying all 3 first-round games thru the USSF, but gotta wait until my new credit card shows up before I can get anything. Hopefully there'll still be tickets available when that happens.

I applied to all 8 in cat 1 and did not include anyone else, out of hopes that I would improve my chances.

Round 1 - CAT III (Sam's Army)

Round of 16 - CAT III (Sam's Army)

Quarter Finals - CAT III (Sam's Army)

I hope (but doubt) that the US will get past the Quarter Finals. Actually, its going to be hard for them to make it out Round 1. And if they do make it out of Round 1, they will most likely be Runners Up, and be forced to play BRAZIL (because Brazil will most likely win their group). :(

P.S. I also FedEx'ed because the Fax line was busy from 11-4:30 Arizona Time.

all group, rnd16, and 1/4 finals.

Cat 2

didn't check sam's army (didn't understand if that would further restrict availability)

did check the "accept different price category" even though those cat1 are too expensive.

Czech Republic, Sam's Army.

I'm going to be in Europe until the middle of June, so that's the only game I could make it to. I hope I get in!

Sam's Army was for if it were possible to group everyone that checks this box together you will be grouped together. Didnt affect availability.

I picked Czech and Italy. Fly out Saturday, arrive Sunday, game Monday. Spend Tuesday through Saturday in the beer garten or watching other matches on the tube, game Saturday night, fly home Sunday. Only 5 days off from work.

This is what you call "a plan." :D

I figured that but didn't want to take any chances of missing out over the issue. The whole "FIFa controls ticketing" disclaimer stuff got me worried about them coming back and saying "sorry but we oversold the sam's army section so no soup for you." I'm sure I can cheer for the boys from where ever they shove me.

Me too. I just had no faith in either the USSF insitution or Fifa. Better to be willingly ripped off, then to jepordize getting tickets.

I scored 3 TST-3 CAT 3 tix from FIFA, a LOOONG time ago. So, I had to apply for 2nd and 3rd round CAT 3 (only one tix this time). Crossing fingers!! :)
