Nope. We always went to Quakes games together, and my mom told him he could never wear a Scum shirt when he was with us.

He loved telling me how much Arsenal sucked, and I would have been disappointed had he not done it in the letter I received from him while he was in Iraq. He was only there for 5 weeks or so before he was killed, so we only got to exchange letters once.

hang in there, Liz :)

Oh, I will. I go visit him at the cemetery every chance I get, and that makes me feel good because I know he'd like that and I like him to know that I still love him very much and haven't forgotten about him.

In Monterey I live right down the hill from the Defense Language Institute, which is a military school, and every night at 10pm they play 'Taps.' So, I think about him every night and even though it still hurts, it's been getting steadily better. :)

It breaks my heart to hear about someone making a sacrifice like that. It seems so rare in today's society. Everytime I see your avatar now Liz, I'll think of that great guy/Sp*rs fan and what he did in the service of our country.

Yeah, he has the whole new album streaming on his site, brendanbenson.com, its pretty good quality too. Its just an interesting album, it's kind of all over the place, but its good. I've been listening to it a bunch, especially "Spit it out" "Feel like myself" and "The Alternative to Love"

A buddy of mine just turned me on to West Indian Girl. I'd heard of them, but had never actually heard any of their stuff until yesterday. I really liked it. Sorry John, but I don't think you'd like them - too hippie-ish for your tastes, I'm sure.

EDIT: You know I'm getting old when I'm fighting to stay up to see the Colbert Report tonight. The same buddy who turned me on to West Indian Girl went to the taping tonight. He specifically told me to "listen for him."

Thanks, that means a lot.

And when I said "Scum," I was referring to Man Yoo. ;)

The first Arsenal game after he was killed was when they ended Arsenal's unbeaten run. I couldn't be upset because I knew he'd love to rub that in my face, and I'd have given anything if he COULD have done that. :(

Funny, i actually went to one of their shows a few months ago at the Casbah. They opened up for another band and i missed their set, but ended up hanging out with the singer Mariqueen and buying her copious amounts of Crown Royal, if memory serves correctly. She was a really cool girl, and smoking hot. I meant to go see them a few weeks ago when they were headlining at the Casbah but i was in Vegas that weekend. Still never listened to their music though. :)

I found this site a few days ago, http://www.mercurytheatre.info/ . They have a bunch of downloadable mp3's and torrents of Orson Welles' old radio plays. I haven't really checked them out that much, but i remember hearing "A Christmas Carol" on the radio about 12 years ago and it was pretty amazing. Anyone travelling alot this Christmas might want to check these shows out as Ipod fodder. Welles was really an amazing talent and these shows were from the peak of his career and featured some of the top actors of the time.

Howard's on the Daily Show tonight. Hope he doesn't pull the serious war-on-FCC routine and actually cracks some jokes.
