I have to agree on one thing -- faxing is totally old school. I am stunned, given their partnership with Nike and Phillips, that they couldn't come up with an online ordering system for these tickets. It just continues to baffle me when they send out the "fax in your orders" PDF ordersheets.
For the last ********ing time (as Buffalo SOldier pointed out at least twice in two different threads)

USSF ASKED TO USE AN ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM AND FIFA TOLD THEM THEY WEREN'T ALLOWED TO DO IT

Not to knock those who faxed their orders after hours, but is it fair that those faxes will take precedence over those, like me, who sent their apps by overnight delivery after spending the better part of a day trying to get a fax through?

I overnighted mine because: 1) my fax did not go through during the early afternoon when the line was working (if it ever did); 2) I received a message from the phone company that the line was out of service (about an hour prior to my local FedEx pickup deadline); and 3) USSF said that duplication of orders through fax and overnight delivery would/could invalidate one's entire order.

So...I followed the rules and will probably miss out. And those who kept faxing well into the night followed the rules as well. So, my only conclusion is that this is a bad system that is alienating those who care most about this team.

I'm a grad student, so I probably can't really afford the trip anyway (have you looked at airfare????). But, what a disappointment.

P.S. How the hell will they prioritize the hundreds of overnight deliveries they'll likely receive tomorrow morning??? I guess I'm hoping FedEx is the first delivery service to arrive at Soccer House tomorrow morning.
There's gonna be a hell of a West Coast bias to these tickets I think.

Let me also add, that a competent supporter's group would have created a ticket ordering system as well. Sam's Army could support itself on ticket sales convenience charges if they'd create a system. However, I haven't seen anything from SA since Mark stated he was going to work the product.

I don't mean this as a criticism of the many volunteers (Monty, BigDog, Evan, Fid, Andrew, etc.) who have gladly tried to make SA more successful. But, until an organization is formally defined/incorporated, all the profits and hard work only benefits Mark. Sorry, but I'm a well-paid (er, adequately-paid) professional, why would I want to give up my time/expertise for Mark's benefit. For the good of soccer, no thank you.

If Mark is serious about working the product, he'll set up a non-for-profit that is incorporated with a set of by-laws and board of directors with the main asset being the SA trademark. Until then, we'll continue to lanquish. I wouldn't object if he made a percentage on the profits for his assigning the trade mark to the corporation.

Sorry for jacking the thread. It's been a very stressful day.
Joe - the problem is the USSF didn't allocate 'x' number of tickets to Sam's Army. Even if it was incorporated or whatever (and I agree that Sam's Army isn't being utilized nearly as well as it could be.), FIFA wouldn't give them tickets, and the USSF wouldn't set aside any either (Please remember at all times that the USMNT/WT/BabyGnats is only a small fraction of the USSFs purview and that the Nats generally take a back seat to other areas withing the federation that wouldn't want to give up any tickets to the Sammers.

and this is a quality threadjack - don't apologize. We need to has out the relationship between USSF and Sam's Army

Course he loses all credibility with his "all the profits and hard work only benefits Mark" idiocy.

I spent 4 hours faxing and redialing once every few seconds and only got through after I called Fedex to come pick the forms up. So I almost ended up in the same boat as all of you that gave up and went with the mail option. I still have only my fax machines confirmation that they got the forms.

However, if my ticket order that went through yesterday evening doesn't get filled before fedex packages that arrive the next day, I'll probably be talking to my lawyer in Chicago. You simply can't say "first come, first serve" and then change the rules. Their emailed pdf and the terms on the site even says something to the effect that by sending in the form we are entering into a legal contract to purchase the tickets under the terms of the sale. Changing those terms after the form was sent in would seem to this non-lawyer to be a big legal no-no especially when it was the USSF's incompetence that caused the problems in the first place. Any lawyers know the rules on that kind of thing? Just wondering as I sit here waiting (and worrying) for that confirmation email from USSF.

The only fair way to do this with all the snafus is to put all the applications they received yesterday and today into one big bag and draw them out randomly.

My brother is a Fedex employee so i borrowed his uniform and dressed up and delivered it myself yesterday around 1. Pretty cool huh. Well I didn't do that but I did save a bunch of money on my car insurance.

Faxed yesterday to the 1301# who knows how it will work but I think I got through around 1:45

Just got my fax to go through at 9:15 a.m. Pacific Time. Hopefully they check the fax before they go through the FedEx

FWIW, my fax went through at 6:20 pm EST, or 5:20 pm Chicago time. Hopefully I'm not harmed by the fact that my fax machine's time stamp is an hour off because of the time change in the fall and was never reset. I suppose if I was enterprising enough I could have moved the time stamp forward a couple of hours.

These posts about getting through after the fax was supposedly shut down are worrisome. Could the fax number ring, be answered, give tones, accept faxed pages so that the sender can confirm, yet not actually receive anything? Or not print it out on the other end? Are there faxes stored inside the machine that need to be printed out? Will that be done properly tomorrow? Will someone just unplug the machine, losing any stored faxes?
Just when I thought that I could relax!
I phoned & emailed this morning. Via phone, I asked for & spoke with Amy (her name was mentioned elsewhere). At that time, she told me not to believe the rumors on BigSoccer. She added that if I got a fax confirmation on my end, then USSoccer had received my fax.
Amy just called me on my cellphone (which should mean that she got my email as well!) to advise me that the fax machine was working after hours & is working now. I thanked her for getting back to me & received her permission to post this & mention her name.
I'm feeling better now. Thanks again, Amy!

I encourage everyone to keep trying.
I posted this yesterday, repeating it for those who didn't overnight.

Congrats.

Do you guys really think that the temps that USSoccer is going to hire to process these things are really going to give a rat's ass what the time stamps, FedEx arrival times, etc. are for this process??? No friggin way. Everyone should just get there form in as soon as possible and hope for some good luck.

FYI, in Korea, this was very easy. I guess more people want to go to Germany based on the constant business of the fax machine. I'm scared the Italy game is going to be sold out and I'll have to spend huge bucks on scalpers. Oh well.

CONCERNING SENDING A SECOND FAX
------------------------------------
I sent my fax (and got through, apparently) at 3:11pm yesterday. I don't have a fax machine that confirms time or received status, so this morning I double checked the Fax Log and low and behold, my fax had an error. Now I personally watched the ENTIRE fax be sent, and swear it said receive. The Fax Log claimed that one page was sent, which would have been my cover paid. I emailed US Soccer about all this and asking his advice as to what my next step should be (wanting so badly to send a 2nd fax the entire time).

His response:
>The best thing for you to do is nothing. So long as your cover page has
>your name and contact information, we are able to track the date of
>receipt and contact you in the event that the entire form didn't come
>through.

I asked then "How will I know if you did NOT receive my fax then?"
His response:
>If you haven't received an email from us by Monday confirming your order
>or asking for additional information, drop us a line.

Hope this helps any of those who have questions still...

I'm thinking that getting together and talking to a lawyer in Chicago may be one way --the only way??-- to get USSF to takes its obligations seriously. It has a monopoly; it's making 10% (that's $300+ for a full order); it's obviously incapable. Perhaps by 2010 then, they will have gotten the message.

Heck, I'm not convinced that they can tell time over there.

Ring ring...

Them: Hi this is Amy with US Soccer how can I help you?

Me: Hi Amy, I imagine you're pretty busy today, I just had a quick question.

Amy: You'd be surprised how many people say that!

Me: I filled out my application yesterday, did it all correctly, and had it into your office at about 12:20 your time. The only problem is that my order form had the wrong prices on the matches

Amy: Yes, thats not a problem at all. We've been working on it and we are recalculating the totals.

Me: Ok so that doesn't affect my application or anything right?

Amy: Nope, we are taking care of it.

Me: Ok thank you, have a good day.

Amy: You too, bye.

After finally getting my friend's passport and address information, I was able to fax in my application less than an hour ago after several failed attempts. Fingers are crossed and breath is being held...

Luck be a lady today.
