Seriously people, what the hell do you have stuck up your asses? Are those gerbals finally rotting and the smell getting to you upset? Lines? Cheating? Following instructions? Please, you're like a bunch of 13 year olds trying to get New Kids on the Block tickets and getting upset when someone else trying getting them in a way you don't approve of. Ya, that's ncie to know you don't approve but your approval means ********-all. The fact is the USSF accepted the application. They're are the ones in charge and the only approval that counts.

No, the USSF gave a confirmation number. That doesn't mean the USSF accepted it, or will give tickets down the road.

The USSF had two jobs:

1. a fair process; and
2. don't screw the fans.

They failed to do either. It is clear that people are pissed off and that the process is to blame. A simple lottery of all people who applied within 10 days with a special passcode would have been fair and easy.

Instead they chose a stupid idea of first come first serve.

Their own rules were unfair. For example, the West Coast applicants had several more hours more to fax their applications before last call for overnight delivery. The East Coast had to run to fedex at 4:30 CT or risk not getting their applications in at all after only a few hours. This itself screwed people back east. In addition, the application form was posted 20 minutes before noon and they clearly did not have enough faxes/phone numbers to handle the expected demand. Allowing same day fed ex but not allowing "couriers" also seems to be poorly thought out.

I commend those who found another way through another fax no. or same day fed ex, etc. The process and USSF is squarely to blame, not those who were thinking outside the box.

Whether we get tickets or not, we should demand better for South Africa and future events. A simple lottery of all applicants is not too much to ask for and would leave everyone feeling more at ease and with less anxiety.

You have a valid point and I had not thought of that before. But to be an **************, I had to get up early (9:30- are you kidding?), the central time zone was on a lunch break, and the East Coast had all day to wait by the website/email inbox.

I think the Hawaiians clearly came out winners in this situation.

To be fair, you really won't know that you've been screwed until you get an e-mail saying you didn't get tickets.

Everyone who wasted time on the poorly drafted application, spent hours at a fax machine and/or at fed ex, and waited anxiously for a confirmation email as a result of a flawed process was screwed.

If I get tickets I will be ecstatic. It does not change my disappointment and frustration with our federation for not doing a better job and coming up with a better process.

Fair enough. Count me among those who spent hours at the fax machine with my boss watching and wondering what the hell I was doing. Even so, I don't know that I will actually feel screwed until I officially don't get tickets. Right now, I'm just anxious more than anything, and i don't know that I would be any less so if they hadn't botched the fax situation.

Palermo - I gotta point out, most people who are gainfully employed after college have been up since 6:00 or 7:00 am. You treat 9:30 like it's an ungodly hour. It's not even close to that.

Forgive my Ignorance. But, does anyone KNOW if the confirmation # is related / to be used to determine order of allocation? Not conjecture but actual knowlege? I suspect it does not and USSF will use some other mechanism such as electronic timestamp on fax, time of FEDEX delivery signature, etc.

One can only hope!!

Don't know, but I e-mailed USSF, and will post their reply when I get it.

My # is 89xx and I FedEx'd it.

Does anyone have a number in the 7000's?

There is a theory on the yanksingermany list that the confirm # for overnight packages is related to your last name. So far, this has proved true for a sample size of about 5.

Edit: As an example, a couple of people with a last name that begins with "W" are in the 93xx camp. Someone with "F" is in 87xx, and another person with "B" has 82xx.

I believe it - how else would they order 300 packages :confused:

Mine last name begins with "R" and my number is 90xx. It holds...

Hmmm, it seems mine fits generally as well:

My number is 91XX--my last name begins with "S".

If this is true, then

81xx = A
82xx = B
83xx = C
84xx = D
85xx = E
86xx = F

Or am I missing something? How would they know how much space to allocate for a given first letter of the last name. Probably relatively few people out there whose last name starts with "X", but plenty of Johnsons, Willams and Smiths.

Somebody make a list of # and corresponding first letter of last name....

I'm B, and my number is 2012. Doesn't follow the scheme above.

My completely uneducated guess is that this is for packages received on 12/13, and that they haven't moved on to 12/14 yet. I would also guess that they sorted them first and then just numbered them sequentially. But yeah, let's get more data points first.

We're talking overnight packages only. Yours looks like a fax number. And specifically, it looks like this is only for packages received on 12/13.

My bad. Yes I was a faxer.
