How do you know I didn't try starting to fax before you? Wouldn't that put me in line before you?
That's not USSF's measure of first come - first served.
Hey, good luck with tickets. If you get 'em, you get 'em. I just don't think you deserve them ahead of someone who followed the printed directions.

And you can continue to kick yourself in the butt for not looking on the US Soccer website, finding the other fax number, faxing it that way, then calling to see if that was ok before deciding to continue trying to fax to the original number or sending over night.
Except it got there faster.
How do you know I didn't try starting to fax before you? Wouldn't that put me in line before you?

I've honestly not seen this many chilidish reactions on one thread since I last saw Suzie-Q.

It's also an admission that the original instructions weren't clear.
Viscious circle.
You'd have to be a ********in' moron or a snake in the grass to not see the questionable nature of not following the printed directions.

And you have to be a ********in' moron to not see that when Bonji called US Soccer and was told it was okay to fax to another number, that he did so with no ill intents. But obviously, given the reactions on this thread, nobody quite gets.

Here's what the form says now:
Please complete and sign this order form (3 pages) and Ticket Holder Lists.
Mail or fax to:
Ticket Department
Unites States Soccer Federation
1801 S. Prairie Ave
Chicago IL 60616
FAX NUMBER: (312) 528 - 7049
Direct instruction with two options -- mail (as described by them elsewhere in the instructions them to include FexEx, etc.) or fax to that number. Was the form worded the same yesterday? I don't recall.
Nice point! It is my understanding that most US jurisdictions accept the interpretation doctrine of (I won't use the Latin phrase and be a complete nerd) "the inclusion of one excludes the other. This does not bind the court, but is a valid and recoginzed theory that a court could recognize, apply, and enforce.
My guess is that someone could make a VERY strong legal argument that all faxes to numbers other than the 7049 number are invalid using the following arguments:
(1) The order form that we all signed expressly states:
"Please complete and sign this order form (3 pages) and Ticket Holder Lists.
Mail or fax to:... FAX NUMBER: (312) 528 -7049"
(2) The inclusion of only one number and the direct request for faxes to that number, thereby excludes other potential numbers. Could one freely mail to USSF care of the "Fundraising" or "Youth Development" Departments just because the form did not say that they couldn't even though it expressly provided "Ticket Department" in the address to mail to? I doubt it.
(3) [Not sure of Illinois laws] But, a court (at least in Florida) would then go beyond the respresentations of the Order Form and go to "parol evidence." Most courts therein look first to the conduct of the parties involved. At least in Florida, in the case of mass forms or advertisments, courts adopt a "proponderance of the conduct" approach. Thereby, with the number of people that I have seen post on here that they were told by someone at USSF [just needs to be anb agent of USSF - at least the receptionist at USSF] that they could not fax to the other numbers and they needed to overnight mail as compared to the obviously fewer number of people that were told it was acceptable, I would guess that a propenderance of the conduct of USSF represented that such alternate numbers were NOT acceptable.
All I am trying to do here is show all of you that I do, in fact, think there could be a STRONG case at least against the validity of the alternate faxed orders, if not the legitimacy of the entire allocation process.
Some other enterprising attorney, if they are worth their diploma and bar addmitance, should be able to at least win a temporary injunction against the allocation of tickets while the entire thing was sorted out. All they would need to show was a valid legal basis for their claim of breach of procedure by USSF and that continuing the allocation would cause undue harm or hardship (which one could show through the potential for airfare bookings, hotel reservations, etc.)
That's my two cents.

Aren't you kind of the pot calling the kettle black? You've been rationalizing why I shouldn't be on the list despite the fact that I am and that I was told what I did was fine.
Plenty of people have let me know they think I'm doing fine and you guys are loons. So I'm ok with some being critical.

I'm not rationalizing anything. I call 'em like I see 'em. You cheated. Period.
If you don't think you did, why do you keep replying to posts that say what you did is wrong?
If your consious is clear, you'd have shut up by now. Deep down you know you might've screwed over other people trying to get tickets. :D

Look, they told everybody everything through the course of the day. With USSF, what they say verbally is meaningless.

I don't shut up because I like to defend myself, thank you. :) I also still don't see what I did as cheating, unethical or screwing anyone over. I still call it resourceful. You are mad that you didn't think of/do the same.

I doubt I'd have not followed the instructions first, then called to see if my not following the instructions was okay, because I wouldn't want my application "received but rejected."
Anyway, they (at the USSF) "should" know what they're accepting and what they aren't. Of course, if the person I spoke to didn't have the authority to say that and didn't know what the hell they were talking about, I'd be screwed.

Jesus, Bernie Ebbers was "resourceful".
Fortunately, UC Denver has a Certificate in Ethics (http://www.cudenver.edu/Academics/Colleges/CLAS/Philosophy/Programs/Certificate+in+Ethics.htm) program that might be of use to you. ;)

I went to the US Soccer "Contact Us" page and found the fax number. I even dialed it from my desk phone and it rang through and I got a fax tone.
I thought about faxing to that number but then decided that it would be a way of abusing the system, and therefore wrong.
But hey, if you can live with yourself when you're a cheater, that's on you, not me. :D

I heard Ken Lay on NPR the other day telling everyone how he's getting a raw deal and he didn't cheat anyone. I bet he would've sent his application to the other fax number too.
