and another of which was telling those people who faxed to an alternate number that their applications were accepted. They did only say received to any of us, I believe, not accepted.

Here's what the form says now:
Direct instruction with two options -- mail (as described by in the instructions them to include FexEx, etc.) or fax to that number. Was the form worded the same yesterday? I don't recall.
Yes, or it said Official fax. I knew US Soccer operates out of a single office so I went with the other fax machine. I knew I had to get that form to US Soccer's office. I did what I had to do and I was told by someone at US Soccer that it was accaptable.
Here's what the form says now:
Direct instruction with two options -- mail (as described by them elsewhere in the instructions them to include FexEx, etc.) or fax to that number. Was the form worded the same yesterday? I don't recall.
No. I copied and pasted from my form a couple of pages back.
This new one is a much more clear instruction.
Although the USSF ********ed up agin by changing their own language mid-stream. People are now working from different rules.

Not sure, but does it still say "Unites States Soccer Federation" ?
They couldn't even spell their own name right. I should've known then that this wouldn't be handled correctly.

Here's what the form says now:
It lists a number. Your point?
It says nothing about not be able to use any other fax numbers.
It does say you are not allowed to courier, and must FedEx in the instructions.
Do the instructions say to only use that fax number?
Didn't think so.

Just looked at a couple of versions (I kept the first one I saw and 4 of the revisions over the next 3 hours.) and all are worded that way.
They did only say received to any of us, I believe, not accepted.
Good point. I didn't get one of those e-mails, so I wouldn't know. :D

Since half of the group here is yelling about rules and things, I figure someone has too keep this on the 3rd grade playground. You lawyers can keep to the high road.

Wait, they said only FedEx was acceptable? ********, I sent it DHL!
Just looked at a couple of versions (I kept the first one I saw and 4 of the revisions over the next 3 hours.) and all are worded that way.
So, the instructions were worded differently on the application thatn they were on the instruction form (which is what I copied from).
Good job again, USSF!

Didn't think so.No, the instructions in a separate place do not say use only that fax number. However, that too is an "instruction" and it says TO use that fax number... "fax to:"

I'm anything but a lawyer, my friend. :)

Probably so. Of course, receipt ("Please note, this receipt confirmation message signifies only that your order form has been received.") and acceptance as a valid application aren't necessarily the same thing, but I'd be surprised if people who got that email had their apps outright rejected for delivery method.
Then that's total **************** because a USSF rep said it was perfectly fine. Now s/he may be talking out of his ass here, but if Bonji gets screwed because someone at the office told him it was OK, that should be some kind of lawsuit.
BTW, I would like to thank the lawyers involved here for crushing all the fun out of the thread
Thanks. Thanks a lot.
(do I really need a smilie?)

No, I think they were eliminated by Trinidad & Tomato. :D

Well ya know, my office has a "Fax To" number on letters too.
But if someone uses one of the other 2 fax lines, we still consider those faxes.

Yeah! I'm gonna file a lawsuit if I don't get my tickets! Oops, I didn't get "that guy's" name....
Well now I'm gonna make it so anyone who does get tickets doesn't have any fun!

I just don't want anyone left out of a legal battle that could last until WC2010. :D

How would they know to use the other numbers then?
I still think this was done ambiguously to make it easier for "friends of the USSF" to get first crack at our expense.
OK, I'll stop channeling Stone and Flannigan now
