Please, you sat there thinking, "I better stick to the rules so everyone has a fair shot?" Bull****. If you did, welcome back to the third grade.

Yes, actually I did. Like I said, following the rules is an outmoded concept.

Why do it when you can get what you want without following them, I suppose.

I'll take the third grade too, if that's the only place that the rules matter.

At any rate, they handled it badly..... They could have rented a dozen fax machines and set up the extra lines without it costing too much. But they treat us all like a mob of people who should be grateful for the mere CHANCE to spend thousands of dollars to travel over the pond to see our team.

Usually I am the stand in line kind of guy. This time, I thought I need to get this form to the USSF today to get World Cup tickets and I did. In this case my desire to go to Germany came ahead of following the rules.

Hey didn't you use to work at Enron or was it WorldCom? :p

:D

Who would have thought that Bernie Ebbers would have internet access while out on bail?

I've learned something new today: unethical = imaginative.

Well, bully for you. Ill still be in Germany too, so it doesnt really matter. Im glad to know Im not the only one who still thinks rules matter no matter how much your "desire" tells you they dont.

not to sound like a jerk, but i wish that some of you would get off of their noble high horse about following the rules and whatnot. while i feel sorry for those who missed out, i am with bonji! i think you all would have done what we had done, but were fearful that your application would be disqualified. let's be honest here! we took a calculated risk and got lucky...but there's no need to call names or belittle us.

Pathetic.

Wow, not only am I a rule braker but I'm unethical now too? I'm sure all of you have prestine records on all other accounts. Thanks for your morals lessons. I will go to church right now, repent, say 25 hail marrys and give up my tickets, if I even get them. From now on I'll miss out on my dream trip to make sure I follow all the rules.

Where did I call anyone names? I simply stated the facts of the case. Certain people broke stated rules in order to get a competitive advantage, end of story. Im sorry, but many of us find that the fact that many of us have called them out for being unethical strikes you as belittling them, but it is what it is.

Not really. What's pathetic is that the USSF let him get away with it. I'm guessing they actually told you go ahead and fax it there?

If he called and they said go ahead, why wouldn't he.

(Now if you just did it without asking, you took one hell of a risk that it wouldn't be disqualified)

Sometimes you do what you have to do.

Also, before getting too far into your "rules" arguement I can not find a statement in the form or on the US Soccer offical instructions saying the only fax number allowed is the one listed on the form.

I faxed it and then called to confirm it would be accepted while going to my meeting. If they had said, "no, it won't be accepted" I would have been back at my fax machine later in the day or at FedEx.

What a pathetic argument. You still new that even if it wasnt expressly written, 99% of people were going to use the given fax number, even if they were clever enough to find the others on the website. As a matter of fact, some of us even called and were told NOT to fax to those numbers.

But I guess sometimes you do what you have to do.

Ok if I may interject - I understand your anger towards Bonji but let's face it - you're just keeping him as a sort of scapegoat in the matter. If you go to my Numbers/Faxes thread, you will see about 8 people that faxed after 5pm CT on Monday.

If scarcity were not an issue, neither would be the faxing after 5pm.

We have no guarantees than any of us will get tickets, or that none of us will get tickets. We can just hope for the best and try to keep it civil.

If you are truly ticked off about the faxes after 5pm, your concerns should be with the USSF. Why did they accept them after they said they wouldnt? What will be done about Fedexs that were stamped before some faxes came in? Why are they so friggin disorganized?

That's where your issue should lie.

The first 5 times I tried to fax it to the second number, it was busy. So I assumed I wasn't alone. I guess we spoke to different people at the office.

Look at it this way, while my fax was going through on a second line I stopped competing with other people for the primary line. I helped get more people through.

Right! don't sweat it Bonji....Am I the only one that finds it weird that all of the pissedoff posters talking about playing by the rules are DCU supporters??

I'd have never guessed :D

Look, no matter how you spin it, you knowingly did something of questionable ethics in order to get an advantage over people. Whats done is done, and I wont waste my time trying to make you feel bad for it or anything, but trying to spin it as anything but exactly what you did is wrong and I wont let that slide.
