It's now 7:15 CST. Has anyone been successful within the last hour or so of faxing in their application? I have been continually trying to fax this damn thing since noon CST.

Have you read any of the other threads? Multiple sources have confirmed that the fax machine is broken, and even if it were fixed, they arent accepting any more faxes today.

but I'm guessing the majority aren't likely planning oin going to Germany.
That's the question on my mind.
I'm pretending that tomorrow morning at 8:00AM there will be a US Soccer draw for World Cup tickets, but instead of Heidi Klum and Franz Beckanbauer, it'll be "Amy" from US soccer and "Joe Shmo" FedEx driver arbitrarily deciding the winner! What excitement! Anyone know if there will be live streaming video?

There don't have to be 3000 registered soccerfans who want to go, just 900.(900 x 4 tickets) And that doesn't even include the tickets skimmed of the top for sponsors, VIPs, big donors, etc.

If the fax machine is broken, that is **************** since they should have sent out an email letting people know. It's not like they do not have everyone's email address! You can never be too sure if someone is just trying to keep the number of people faxing down.

US Soccer gets 8% of the seatsfor each game they play in. So depending on the size of the ground, that's 3k-4k per game. Thus the 3-4k ussoccerfan.com debate.

Here's my optimistic but (I feel) realistic projection of what has gone down today:
(1) One fax machine (312-528-7049) that was taking faxes for approximately 6 hours before it went "down." A fax takes about 3 minutes to go through (at best). That means there should only be 120 orders with a maximum of 4 tickets per order. While I don't think all orders were for 4 tickets, let's just assume so. That is 480 tickets per match.
(2) Let's assume that 1/3 of the (312-528-7049) total orders also got through via an "alternate" fax number with the maximum per game. That is another an additional 160 tickets per match.
Subtotal = 640 tickets per match
Now let's assume there are 3,000 tickets per match (I know that someone already ran the 8% numbers, but if memory serves me right the average is about 3,000 per match).
(3) Subtract 640 from the 3,000 total allotment, and we have 2,360 tickets left.
(4) Now assume that around 500 are resreved for sponsors and others (which may not really be the case, but let's assume). There would be 1,860 tickets left.
(5) My guess is that projections of 1,000 FedEx orders tomorrow morning are off base. Even though this could still be a bit high, I will say 500 orders by 10:30 tomorrow morning. Now, certainly not all orders will be for the maximum of 4 tix per match. Let's assume the average - 2 per match. That would mean 1,000 tix requested via mail tomorrow morning. With a projected amount of 1,860 tix available, I think we all might luck out.
That's just my guess... I could be completely off base, but hey... I'm optimistic!

Yes, I just faxed to the 7049 number. I did it using manuaul redial and it conected 3 out of ~10 times (the first two times I didn't know how to actually send the fax, since up til now I was doing it in auto mode it was in memeory). Don't give up hope! Good luck!

I was with you until this point. I'm betting that half of our federation's alotment is taken by sponsors, staff, sent down the federation structure, then you have the normal group reserved for other VIPs, favors for friends, etc. I could go on but you get the idea. I think the number of avaliable tickets for joe public is going to be lower than you think. :(

I'm with you, NAC Orlando. Just look at the number of people on this board who DIDNT get through today. I would guess that a good % of registered USSoccerfans post on here. I mean, just look at the pre-USAvsMexico stuff. And there certainly weren't 500 or even 200 separate posters who have said they are overnighting their order request. Our chances still have to be decent if we get our shipments in tomorrow morning.

If the machine is on you could probably get in now since many gave up and had to get it FedEx by now.

Im still confused.
I was under the impression that the USSF had enough tickets for EVERYONE involved in this presale, and that it was people who were not involved that would be out of luck most likely. Is that not the case? (I could just be naive - I also thought they'd have enough fax lines  )
Nope, it was always a "first come first serve" process.

Someone asked about successful faxes:
-- after 4.25 hours of trying constantly with fax redialing, our app went through to the special purpose number at about 4:15 central time. We got a fax receipt that says 6 pages ok. No idea if it really got through or if it was really accepted. I plan to send an email to ussoccer with a .pdf of the app and the fax receipt, but who knows anymore.

I bet there will be only one person there to process all the mail orders - the rest of the office probably got the day off for a job well done

Yep, I gave up on the fax and went with Express Mail, next day noon.
If I get an e-mail in a few days saying they ran out of tickets, I only hope I can show great restraint and not send an obnoxiously whiny e-mail. But I might have to do it anyway, just for peace of mind.
New Year's resolution: no more obnoxiously whiny e-mails to soccer authorities.
