So what do they do when they get about 1000 FedEx envelopes tomorrow morning?

Actually, the real question is what will they do with 8000 Fedex envelopes tomorrow morning. If its only 1000 -- no problemo.

I finally gave up on the fax and decided to FedEx it overnight. Nothing to do about it now- whatever happens, happens. But the USSF sure screwed the pooch on this.

I expected them to be overwhelmed by faxes (despite their assurances that they were prepared for it) but how difficult was it to make sure the forms were accurate? There are factual errors on the form (both quarterfinal venues are listed as Hamburg, when in fact match 58 would be in Hamburg, but match 60 would be in Frankfurt- perhaps that's nitpicking though) plus technical errors (it's impossible to enter info for ticket holder #4 without it being copied to boxes for ticket holder #5- so that section has to be hand written I guess) and worst of all the prices were wrong in the first version of the form- but thanks to bigsoccer I caught that before I sent it in. I hate to think how many people may have their forms thrown out because of the USSF's mistake.

Great. Page one went through. the rest didn't. In Bruce Arena's words, this is a "futile exercise."

Fed Ex is going to be thanking U.S. Soccer....

I just wanted you to know, i got so fed up of faxing that i called us soccer, which took forever to get through and at least i did get through, and they told me i could use the 312-808-1301 fax number, which i did and i finally got through there.

Good luck to everyone else.

Corporate hq, maybe, but somehow, I think the local Chicago FedEx delivery guy is going to have an unusually bad Tuesday morning.

Can't explain how disappointed I'll be if those of us using FedEx/UPS get the shaft because they couldn't list more than one F'ing FAX number on the damn application form or anywhere else on the website.

I would say use it. I didn't tell her my name or anything so its not like she made a note. Plus it doesn't sound like that other number is working anymore either. I would have said something earlier but I got selfish and didn't want more people calling that number, it took about 30-50 tries to get through still.

So what do they do when they get about 1000 FedEx envelopes tomorrow morning?

I'm sure with the leftovers, all USSF employees and their family members will be able to go as 'The FedEx Pope' for halloween next year.

No lie...my fax went through at 5:10 p.m. to 312-528-7049

I kid you not. All 5 pages.

Don't worry, if/when I get the confirmation e-mail, I will let them know what happened, because this was a major cluster********

Of course they expect call volume to tail off, as 2/3 of the fans have to high tail it to FedEx. sheer brilliance, but what else could be expected from the USSF?
Also, as East Coast people leave the office, there will be a drop off as well. Who wants to bet that there will be a lot more people on the West Coast who get their fax order in relative to the East Coast. Who also wants to bet that US Soccer won't know why that is...

Hey y'all, so my poor assistant has attempted to fax the order form 567 times unsuccessfully.

But, I finally got through to US Soccer via telephone and spoke with two people there. They were extremely nice and sorry about the entire situation. Here's the info that I was able to extract from them:

1) There was, in fact, only one fax machine dedicated to WC orders.

2) It is now "down" and they really aren't sure if it will be back up and runnin today, tonight, tomorrow, or in the near future.

3) They are reccomending that everyone Fedex or otherwise overnight mail at this point.

4) the alternate fax number on the "Friends of US Soccer Order Instructions" is their fax number for the Referees Department. They said that they though someone in that department would probably take the order form to the "Ticketing" Dept. if it were faxed there, but that was certainly no guarantee.

Hope that helps!!

I just talked to the Fed. The regular fax is dead. They said not to use the main fax number (1801). The said to overnight it. Running to FedEx!

To laugh or to cry. That is the question.

What were these fools expecting?

I got through just after 5 PM, my confirm says 5:06 PM, so I guess I was the guy in front of you! This whole process was/is unnerving! Then, when I'm looking at my e-mail address, it's now screwed up because of the whole CAPS thing (I'm jbIGJAKE!). If I was Fina, I'd still be screaming. Took a few minutes to post this because I've been busy apologizing to my family & everyone who I hung up on today!

I went to kinkos tried a few more fax attempts while filling out the paper work for priority overnight fedex delivery. After 30min of getting "Number is having difficulties" I handed the app over to the fedex guy.

I guess the saying for today is:

Que Sera Sera, Whatever will be, will be, Ill still be in Germany.....

So everyone sing along.

Just noticed that this thread now has almost 10,000 views. Not a good sign in light of the fact that there are probably less than 3000 tickets to each match and I'm sure the VAST MAJORITY of people requesting tickets are not reading this thread . . .

Another update, just spoke with US Soccer one last time. They are NOT accepting any more faxes INCLUDING to the 312-808-1301 number. Those that go there will NOT be accepted.
