I caught that just as I was about to mail the sucker, so went back and retyped the whole thing. Sheesh, my Princeton application was less stressful.

Me TOO!! Glad I was not the only one...can they make this any harder....what about actually applying ONLINE??? What a concept....

Now I'm getting a message stating that the fax number has been disconnected or is no longer in service? WTF?

Hearing that somebody actually got through recently emboldened me to resume my assault and postpone the trip to UPS.
Now, nearly every call is, "Sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed."
Lovely!
Thanks, USSF!

I'm getting through every time now and that's all I get.

well guys, I am screwed. My secretary in Indiana is now gone. My fax machine here is somehow on strike or broken and I can't fedex.

This is just aweful.

- Tickets are almost bound by DNA to a specific fan. Any trading or swapping of tickets will result in instantaneous death. Forget any on-the-spot ticket purchases to interesting first round or to second round games (if your team makes it through)

- You have to purchase a passport, for each person you'd like to get tickets for, in order to simply apply for tickets. Even if you don't win any of the various lotteries, your State Department thanks you for the considerable investment you've made

Haven't you heard? Ingsoc was put in charge of ticket policy and distribution.

War Is Peace
Freedom Is Slavery
Ignorance Is Strength
Faxing is Great

This whole process has been doubleplus good.

I've applied for student loan consolidation online. Sent in applications for jobs online. I've registered for tests online. I can shop for almost anything online. Worked on projects with a team spread across the globe online.

But try to get tickets for a few WC games and its two decades back in time.

For all of you that are frustrated with faxing and not getting through, try to be happy that you at least have your password.

Begin Rant:

Between the Germans and the Americans they have found a way to make it clear that they do not want anyone to show up for the 2006 World Cup.

- Your very own soccer federation can't even e-mail you a simple document with a password on it. You can e-mail them and attempt to call them to find out why, but you will never get through. So you are left unable to compete in a first come/first served ticketing process.

They might as well have adopted "Stay the [BLEEP] Home We Don't Want You Here" as the official logo of World Cup 2006.

I'm extremely disappointed that my own federation cut me out. Time to start rooting for the Irish National Team, I guess.

So riddle me this, Batman: How is it that "Razorgator" is offering tickets? My guess is they have ponied up for some backdoor deal with FIFA/USSOCCER to screw the fans and make money.

Now this is amazing:

I actually just got a phone call from someone at US Soccer. She wanted to be sure I had received the email she had just sent me confirming my password. This was in response to (a) my email that I sent at 12:45 EST and (b) my telephone call that Amy took about 2 hours ago when I still didn't have a password. So anyway, I told the lady (who was very nice) that I did, in fact, receive her email and that I had been trying to fax my forms for a couple hours without any luck. I asked if she had any ideas and should I perhaps FedEx it instead. She said she didn't know but would try to ask someone.

So about a minute later she comes back and said that it was recommended that I just keep trying as "it was expected" the number of people trying to get through would diminish and I would be able to get through. She said that she was told that I should probably try to fax if I could instead of fedexing and that the fax would be open after hours. Of course, I then asked if that was because the people fedexing may not get tickets due to first come first serve -- she said she had no idea.

fwiw.

I'm enjoying the general USSF bashing, but what exactly is their refund policy if I order tickets through the final match and (let's say) the US doesn't make it out of their group?

IT IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

So what do they do when they get about 1000 FedEx envelopes tomorrow morning?

So when do we find out if our request has been processed? In two days?
I guess I can only hope on my half processed fax an hour and a half ago.

Word!

Why do I have the feeling that the USSF fax machine prints out on that thin, curly paper where the machine has to cut each page off the roll and the ink fades after about 6 hours.

Is anyone planning to put paper in the fax machine?

If I'm lucky they'll set them aside and open my UPS envelope. :D

My understanding is that tickets available from brokers (if legit) are probably corporate sponsor tickets that have no specific ticket holder names on them.

Of course they expect call volume to tail off, as 2/3 of the fans have to high tail it to FedEx. sheer brilliance, but what else could be expected from the USSF?
