The way Brasil and England have been playing, and because of the players, it will come down to them in the final.

i'd like to think the U.S. has a chance to make a run, being an american, but that is ridiculous. If it were asking who you want to win, then i can understand why the U.S. would be doing so well in the poll, but they have no chance in winning. The funny thing is some are saying the Czech Republic have a chance to win, that's crazier then saying the U.S. will win as of their play lately. The Czech rely on Nedved. Bottom line is with how strong the top tams are, no underdog team stands a chance. It's between the powerhouses of England, Brazil, Holland, and Argentina. I gotta go with Holland.

we all know brazil is goin to win it
I'm with you, I say Brazil is going all the way again. The 3 R's are going to be too much for the rest of the world. With Ronaldinho distributing the ball to Ronaldo and Robinho there will be too much field to cover. Of course I'd like to see the USA do well, but I am a realist. And as for all of you gents out there that think Portugal is going all the way, that's what they said last year, and look what the USA did to em. Either way, I can't wait.

If the US gets a win vs either italy or czech and ties the other they could take first place in the group and avoid brazil. If they win the group they will play someone soft and most likely make it to at least the quarters again.

FRANCE!!??!! ARE YOU INSANE? The US has a better chance than France if it wasnt for a difficult draw and a cakewalk to the quarterfinals for France. Once they make it there they'll be toast

Brazil are the favorites, of course. But if they get upset, who can be the team to grab it. For me it would be Holland or England...in that order.

If not for a bad call in 2002, the USA would have beaten Germany and probably would have been in the final against Brazil. Yes the USA has a tough group, but if they can get through Italy( who I don't think are that good anyway) and the Czech Republic, both of whom are in the top twelve in the FIFA rankings, then who knows maybe it will be their year.
If you're referring to the handling non call on the corner kick, the call was correct. The player's arm was hanging at his side in a natural position and he never moved it to play the ball. Therefore, it was not deliberate handling.
But, even Germany said we were the better team that day and we could have gone all the way if other things had happened.

Anyone who uses the FIFA world rankings to justify their pick obviously doesn't know what they are talking about.
Although Brazil is a popular and logical pick, I think a European team will win the 2006 World Cup. 8 of the 9 world cups played on European soil have seen a European side hoist the trophy. I will pick Italy to win. I think a lot of people are underestimating the quality of the Italian team because they went out early at WC 2002 and Euro 2004, but those performances don't concern me. At WC 2002 Italy were eliminated by the referees, not South Korea. At Euro 2004 Italy did not lose a game playing without Totti.
