MY NEPHEW FINALLY MADE IT!
He got called up by the Devils. He makes his NHL debut tonight vs. the Islanders. He's #19.
WOW!
That's awesome Tom. Good for him! That didn't take long! A half a season at Albany and he's at the big club. F'n good for him. Maybe if he's still up after the Olympic break I'll come up for the game on Mar. 1 when they play the Flyers. I got his picture off www.nhlmedia.com but couldn't post it. I did however get the transaction report from the River Rats website (The NHL in general is very slow is releasing transactions to news organizations.)

In sadder news, your nephew will never get to play against Super Mario.

it is indeed very sad to hear that Mario is retiring. He is a legend.

I still maintain he's the best player ever. Sorry Wayne.

He's #4 in my book - Gretz, Howe, Orr, and Mario. Quite a Mt. Rushmore!
It is a day tinged with geat joy, as well as some sorrow (hey, he's in decent health, and I hope somehow the Pittsburgh difficulties get resolved with more than a semblance of equity to all stakeholders)

I couldn't see the game (at school), how did he play?? Here's his stats. I see he had 7.5 mins of ice time.

The stats were pretty indicative. He did get into a couple of scrums in front of the NJ goal - in one of them, his helmet came off. Welcome to the show.

Sounds like young Jason got "stuck in". Of course, you're aren't really in the NHL until you lose your first NHL tooth.

Why is it that the Flyers always seem to lose to the Canadiens?
Here's a question, who's your team? and who's there bogey team?
For me it's the Flyers and the bogey teams are Montreal and the Rangers.

BTW Malkin scored a goal that is almost as beautiful as Ovechkin's, is someone can tell me how I can edit a segment out of a match, I'd gladly upload it.

Sharks
I'd say Avalanche and Red Wings. Although we have done ok against those teams in the play offs.

How is being east coast different? I am sort of indifferent to the Blackhawks but the rest can suck it. Especially the Leafs and Wings.
Chelios sickens me in general ever since his cheap shot elbow on Brian Propp in Game 1 of the 1989 conference finals against the Flyers. Chelios never showed remorse. He should have been thrown out for good. He's a goon and punk as far as I am concerned! (As you can tell I really hate Chelios, the fact that he is representing the US in the Olympics is a joke.)

You've touched on my biggest Philly pet peeve. Yeah, that's what the media will have you think happened...
I was there sitting in the corner of the one endzone closest to the play. It wasn't like that. First off, the cheering started because Tim Hauk put a big hit on Irvin. We hate the Cowboys, our safety lays one of their stars out, we cheer. Then he stayed down, it was pretty quiet, no roars or cheers. Then that fcuk Deion Sanders, the attention starved cokehead with a Jesus problem, decides he's going to WILL Irvin up by the grace of God. He litereally starts prancing around Irvin's body raising his hands to the sky and kept doing it. He looked like a f'n retard. The fans start booing HIM. Finally the stretcher comes out, they cart him to the corner of the endzone where the ambulance used to come into the Vet. People cheered THEN. The whole thing was blown out of proportion by the media who made it a story when there was none.

R.I.P. Mighty Ducks of Anaheim....
Just a few notes on some transactions yesterday.
1. How stupid are the Penguins for trading Tarnstrom to Edmonton. He's a good player and he scored 16 goals last season. He's a good defensemen. I'd love him on the Flyers. Seems like he's a player they should be keeping with Crosby.
2. Freddy Myer is a good NHL player. Let's hope the Flyers call him back up soon.
Is there a more snake biten injury team in the NHL than the Flyers? Christ, now Radivojevic is out for 4-8 weeks. Forsberg can't seem to play more than 2 periods along with Pitkanen, Desjardins, Johnsson and Primeau for months. It doesn't look like Primeau will be back this year (or maybe ever). Good news is Johnsson and Pitkanen are back tomorrow. We need the Olympic break more than anyone else. If we can come back healthy, look out. Sorry Sweden, Peter has got to sit this one out.
