To be fair it was a hit from behind, and not clean....but certainly not game misconduct kind of stuff.
I just cannot live this trade down. The only thing making us a bad team when we had Thornton were defense, injuries and chemistry issues. None of this was solved with that trade, and now I have to see Zhamnov try to impersonate a top line center. Shoot me.
What is it with Boston? Jeremy Jacobs must be the WORST owner in all of sports. When anyone gets good, and asks for rightful compensation, he gets shipped out. I lived there for 17 years, and I still could never figure it out. Last time they hoisted the Cup was the early 70s, then a four-game rubout by the Oilers in 89. Bruins fans don't deserve this, but they get lousy treatment anyway. Maybve if they voted with their wallets, but hockey's too popular there......

what do yall think bout Ovechkin from washington? I havent seen a game of the caps until tonight, and he is absolutely tearing it up versus dallas. ya, he scored a sick goal, but his stickhandling and ability to get shots on goal remind me alot of kovulchuk..

He's quality - then again, his mom won two gold medals in basketball for the CCCP - and didn't his father play football for Dynamo Moskva? He's also big enough so that if you want to play the body on him, he can and will mix it up.....

Ovechkin is my Calder winner. He's a better player than Crosby and he has NO support on his team. He's a two way player with grit and tenacity. He doesn't cry and he leads his team. He's simply the best rookie in the league and should be the new face of the league over Cindy Fraud-sby.

Depends on how you pronounce your "o"s!!!
Pazhalsta , eli, pozhalsta!!
My SO went to high school in the old CCCP - her folks are oncologists, and much more attuned to the world than typical Americans ---we follow the greatest game, so any Yank on these boards are exempt from the "provincial 'Merican" tag - we even know how to insult other nations properly!! She also spent five years as an adult practicing law in Moskva for a Wall St. law firm. Plus, a childhood friend used to read the news on the old Golos Ameriki and spent seven in the US Embassy - he's now Undersec of State for the CIS. Wish my russky yezik was as good as theirs. So, I know what Soviet (now Russian, toss in the Kazakhs, Belarus, and the Baltics) hockey has done with un-Abramovich resources.

Boy - speaking of hype, when you go to nhl.com and use the drop down menu, the only player is Crosby (he's Canada's poster child, as he's Anglophone yet bilingual). I would hope that somewhere a page is erected to Ovechkin.

The "a" is fine. That's the Moscow way of saying it. Which means all other pronounciations are irrelevant.

MY NEPHEW FINALLY MADE IT!
He got called up by the Devils. He makes his NHL debut tonight vs. the Islanders. He's #19.

congratulations, that's awesome.
P.S. I still wish Fetisov played for the Devils. He is my favorite player of all time, hands down.
