for what??

being involved with the mafia?
why is he cool now???
weird.

It's just freakin hilarious. I mean, Janet Gretzky is involved in it. I guess you have to be from Philly to appreciate this. Ain't much mob activity in Dallas I suspect!

Oh I agree. He didn't bet on hockey though I do see the inherent fears of an asst coach funding an illegal gambling ring, I still just find it humorous to think of Captain Tocchet being involved. I don't know. I am also a bit giddy tonight as well.

I've rethought my rankings as well!

East
1 - Carolina
2 - Ottawa
3 - NY Rangers
4 - Buffalo
5 - Flyers

West
1 - Dallas
2 - Nashville
3 - Detroit
4 - Vancouver
5 - Calgary

It's not too early to start Olympic hockey:
Gold - Canada
Silver - Czech Republic
Bronze - Slovakia

Here's a cool link to some audio of Sittler's 10 point night 6G 4A in an 11-4 win for the Leafs vs Bruins: //mfile.akamai.com/16532/wma/nhl.download.akamai.com/16532/wm.nhl.na-central/nhllive/sittler_feature.asx

great link eddie~

wait, we jumped up 2 spots? is that cuz we beat nashville and detroit?
or we have won 7 of 8? and that st louis loss, well, it was always gunna happen.
dominated nashville though. we have 3 absolute dominate lines now and a fourth that nearly gives us as many scoring chances but with guys who have no idea how to put the puck in the net. a true crash line.
love you ken hitchcock~

Yeah, I saw them on TV for about the 2nd time all year on Monday against the Preds. Unbelievable. Hella impressive. Outclassed them totally. You guys are a force. I have no idea why no one brings up Turco for the Vezina. 1st in wins, 8th in GAA. He's been great it seems.

29-13, 3 Shutouts, 2.49 GAA and .898 SV% (But really what else matters other than wins?!?!)

Nashville above Detroit because they took 2 from them in Detroit last week.

As most of you know, I work "in the media" anyway, the word around is that Roenick and Travis Green are two of the players implicated. I'm working on getting others, when I do, I'll let you know. I've also been told that gambling is huge with NHL players, more so than in other sports and that to most of the people that cover the NHL, this is not surprising or really even a story. (Guess you're right phishy)

I can see why gambling is a BIG problem. The players only have a 90 min-2hr morning skate, then nothing else, lest they get burned out. So, what can a player do? I know the neph has considered a cooking class, but any class of real substance (like a foreign language) can't be done due to the vagaries of travel.
This is true in all sports - Jose Mourinho says it doesn't bother him about John Terry's (and others') habit, because it is done at a licensed bookmaker, with taxes paid. But a friend (who's a psychaitrist at Columbia U.) consults with the NFL and the NFLPA on substance abuse. Her lecture at rookie mini-camp is always preceded by the "gambling" lecture.

They/he should consider joining the NY or US Blues then...give em something to do on a Wednesday afternoon, though I am tivo'ing the game.

Anyone else getting ready for the USA-Latvia game to start? I know the Russia-Slovakia game is on now as well.

I'll click on the nhl.com website for updates, unless Olympic Hockey has a play-by-play like Soccernet or uefa.com.
K. Redlihs is playing for Latvia, so I hope they do well.

no wonder. Nabby was on the bench during our last game against Coyotes. Why the hell wouldn't he play. Damn it.

he could be the Myshkin of our times - then again, a Slovak victory would NOT be totally unexpected. I would venture to guess that Slovakia would have the sieve goalie going into this tournament, not Russia.
