Well, the groups are made and it's time to analyze

Costa Rica

I think they're gonna get killed in the opening game against Germany. My prediction is they will come out nervous and lose 3-0. But i think they can beat Ecuador and surprise Poland.

T&T

Ouch! doesn't look good. looks like 3 heavy losses coming your way.

Mexico

Will qualify but all 3 games will be close. If Mexico can beat Brazil they can beat Portugal.....heck if U.S. beat Portugal, Mexico will beat Portugal. I know nothing of Angola but I'm assuming they will be physically strong and have lots of speed. Iran are arguably one of the weaker teams of the 4 Asian countries and should be little trouble because they lack the speed and technique of Japan or Korea. Mexico was lucky not to get the Serbia/Montenegro draw and this is by far the easiest group they have had in their past 3 or 4 WC group stages.

USA

France 98 repeat. possibly 1 draw this time instead of 3 losses. It's no secret that the U.S. can't beat teams that match or better their physical game. The U.S. has showed in France WC '98 and France Confed Cup '03 that it doesn't play well in Europe. Lets face it, they were lucky to get out of the group stage in '02 where the Europeans were at a disadvantage. For those that don't think it's a factor playing the WC in Europe **Cough** Arena **Cough**, it is no coincidence that Brazil is the only team to have won a WC outside of their region and no European has ever won a WC outside of Europe. European teams have the advantage playing in Europe.

This is what it looks like on paper but anything can happen in football.

Mexico will finish top of their group like always. the hard part is the round of 16 :D. the U.S. and costa rica with great play and a bit of luck can make it to the round of 16, but logic makes it seem like both go 3 and out. TnT will be destroyed.

We all knew T&T wouldnt make it to the next round.

Costa Rica has a slight chance of going to the second round, but i think they will fail to pass to the second round.

I think Mexico will go to the second stage without much problems.

U.S.A was killed when they put them on that pot. maybe in 2010.

just my opinion.

Does it matter if any CONCACAF teams get out the first round?

Mexico will play Argentina or Holland
Costa Rica will play England or Sweden
USA will play Brazil
T&T....well lets hope they at least get a goal in the first round

none likely to get to Quarterfinals

Mexico has the best chance of getting to the quarter finals. they have a chance at beating argentina or holland. argentina because they know each other a bit more. holland for the fact that they are talentwise less than argentina. but it doesn't look good for the concamex teams to get to the quarters

The only sure thing about the WC is that some teams who most everyone said after the draw would get through don't and some whom almost everyone said had no chance get through.. That will happen again this time as usual.. ;)

you are right, even though Mexico was lucky, i think that if they get passed teh quarter finals they have a good chance of making it until the semis but i still have to see the tournament schedule to see who is more likely to show up in the quarters. by the way, the USA got ********ed big time.

Mexico advances
USA advances
Costa Rica might advance, though, I think they will come up just short (goal diff/head to head)

I think one CONCACAF team will advance to quarters prob Mexico since US seems to always flop against European teams, if they overcome this though, i think they can advance to quarters like 02'

GOOD LUCK CONCACAF...

Costa Rica: Small chance to make it as second, Germany should advance in first, and Ecuador and Poland will fight with the Ticos for the second place.

T&T: Terrible luck, if they manage to tie a game it would be a success.

Mexico: Should advance to the second round with out much trouble.

USA: Bad luck today, Ghana looks beatable, but the Czechs and Italy are another ball game, top european teams. Very small chance to advance to the second round.

Does it matter? were you already born in 1990? Do you remember that one game we beat Sweden? Im glad you werent around at the time to suggest we just came back home and not play cause it "doesnt matter"? jeeeeeeshhhh

Im really sorry for the usa as im cheering for all concacaf teams to do well but czech rep and argentina are definitely 2 of the best 5 teams in the world right now.

Mexico will make it to the next round, as they should since they were seeded. CR has a decent shot at it since Poland and Ecuador have a relatively simmilar football level although they practice different styles of football. T&T, I think they will gain good experience for the future.

I was checking the tournament schedule up and it looks taht if Mexico advances as 1st place they'll face probably Argentina in teh second round which Mexico has beaten before, so we can make it to teh quarters, but then we'll likely meet England and if we keep going Brazil will be there in teh semis..

actually potter, if they win in quarters, they have a 100% chance to go to the semis, since they follow each other.

mexico has a good shot, costa rica i think can sneak in... don't underestimate costa rica.

USA got a tough, tough draw. whatever group that got holland or czech republic was going to be tough. U.S. was unfortunate.

t&t, well maybe stern will get them a goal.

realistically, on paper, it looks like mexico will pass. i think costa rica will sneak in, a la italia 90. you just wait.

lol hahaha i meant if they get passed teh second round they have a pretty good chance of making it to the semis, but if they go all the way, they will probably meet Brazil. I'm thinking a Brazil vs Holland/England/ Germany final. unless my group prediction fail and and they meet before.

Mexico has to advance. CR WITH lady luck on its side can make it out of the group stage, USA will need to play like theyve never done it before in order to make it, TT ARE just not very lucky....

Mexico must advance they have the easiest group of the 4 concacafers.... Hopefully either CR or the US will advance too, T&T has the hardest group.

Although Mexico has a somewhat easy pass to the next round, the road got as tough as it can get.

If Mexico qualifies as 1st in their group, they will face the second of the group of death which i'm assuming will be either Argentina or Holland, if they through, they'll face England in the quarters, if they through they'll face Brazil in the semis, so after we get out of the safety of our group, things will be tougher for us than for other teams advancing, except perhpas the USA, that if they advance, they'll probably play Brazil.

No, it's not that T&T got a tough group. It would have been the same outcome in any group.

Mexico got a good draw and should advance pretty easily.
T&T goes 3 and out. They are happy just to be here.
CR is in an advancable group. Germany will be tough but the other 2 are beatable.
USA got a tough draw but they have more experience than either czech or ghana in the world cup so they have as good of a chance to advance as those teams plus the Italians always start slow
