Let them have their little germany bashing. We know who laughs at last.

Opinionmakers in US are not very objective about Germany this days, even if it´s about sports.
Today I read an pre article about the worldcup draw on foxsport, in which the author really stated, that germany has not enough money to build a new stadium in Berlin, therefore renovated the old olympic. What an idiot, a journalist could and should know, that it was an political decision to rebuild the olympic stadium at a cost of 276 mil €. With 276 mil € you could build almost an Allianz Arena or an AufSchalke Arena plus a 50.000 seater in Mönchengladbach. But what do I expect from fox.

yeah i dont know how credible a irish american espn football sports caster and how much he knows about german football

Wynalda: theres too much expectation

Seeing they actually think they could win the Cup, or even make it out of their group for that matter, that's pretty rich.

just read the article...youre right!
whats with all the german-hating?

and the thing about the nazis..... please......
why bring up something half a century ago that people have tried so hard to recover from and that also so many people are ashamed of??

is this just this guy's opinion or are all americans like this???

i heard bruce arena knock australia and T&T the other day, whats with that? like as if australia qualified in an easier way than they did... and T&T are from the same confed, right? why go bashing a team for the same region? is it just a power trip to show whos the boss of the region? ruins the world cup spirit really...

Thanks for the link. Wow, did his German girlfriend dump him?
What is surprising about Berlin in particular and Germany in general is the atmosphere: Malaise hangs in the air like fallen meringue.

Germany is the financial engine of Europe and perhaps it is that pressure that makes the faces of the people so hard and weary.

What is he talking about here anyway?:

Germany's taken a fair number of hits lately, too; Refs fixing games, gangs beating each other senseless

so what was up with those germany-bashing comments by balboa and wynalda? balboa is a meathead, but wynalda i respect and he was even more scathing and dismissive in his comments about german football AND the people/culture...

I was screaming at the TV. Wynalda has turned into an absolute joke.

No

& Arena's comments were taken WAY out of context. He even reclarified what he said. He was not knocking Australia or T & T. Of course, the papaers printed the crap.

12th. June I will see the US team live in Gelsenkirchen.

I hope the US. win vs. Czech, cause I bet the US in the semifinal and in the final.

The man at the betting office ask how much beer I drank and if I really want to bet that.

Sure, I bet it.

I bet (one of it) 25 Euros for the final Germany vs. USA. When that happens I'll get out ???.??? Euros. A lot.

When you laugh, I bet Greece at the Euro in the final and won, some Money,
not the one I hope, I bet in a combi bet. But when the final was Germany vs Greece i`d won 925.000 Euros.
Germany wasn`t in the Final so I get a min of it. But some pence rolled in.

Yeah, the article is very strange written.
but if it´s his own exprerience. :o

Hope he comes back and gets more impressions,
perhaps also after the WC, so he could see,
that the people are also friendly, when there is no WC. :)

Wasn't there some incident recently, when German and Polish hooligans met up and had some brawl ? Maybe that's what he's referring to.

Who cares? Thats life. And seriously the german people should get used to the fact, that the world just doesnt like us. I find it embarrassing how my people are going on their knees! Stand up. God damn it. Who cares what others say?

In general I do. But in general I would think it would be better if there would be no German but a European or even better a one-world identity...

That would require people to be equal, they arent. People love their differences.

I think the finale of the World cup will be

GERMANY-USA (my favorite finale)

or Germany-Holland (classic again):) like in 1974

or maybe Germany-England.

just my opinion.

Many underestimate our team. I believe in our team. They can make it.
