A blurb in today's USA Today:

Sports on TV by Michael Hiestand:

"Sports radio's Jim Rome will return to ESPN for a weekly "Rome Is Burning" show starting May 6. Rome, who'll also do SportsCenter commentaries says it will have a "talk format, plenty of commentary, some interviews and involve my crazy radio listeners."

Oh Joy....

So don't watch. Pretty easy, really.

YES!

Finally, something worth watching on ESPN!

Although I do miss the old days when ESPN showed sports.

I'd like to be the first to predict an astronomical rise in the occurence of "Jim Rome made fun of soccer" threads on BS.

at least May 6th is after the MLS season starts. I'm sure he would have a nice little whiny tirade against it on opening day.

Does this mean we also will see the return of Jim Everett?

Don't you mean Chris Evertt?

;)

I've always wanted to ask someone and this seems like the appropriate time: Did Rome ever apologize for the "Chrissy Evertt" incident with Jim Everett? (sorry if I mangled the spelling)

It was so white trash -- a Jerry Springer sports moment.

I just hope they don't put him anywhere near PTI. He doesn't deserve to be that close to real talent.

Kornheiser makes fun of him all the time on his shows. His mocking "so classic" is a dig at Rome.

Rome's soccer rants don't bother me. I just don't like his style. Everything is "in your face". Fortunately, they took his radio show off the air in Charlotte and started broadcasting Kornheiser's 3rd hour.

You must have a really really busy schedule to miss the 3-4 Games A NIGHT on the ESPN Networks.

I mean, they air College Basketball, College Football, the NBA, NHL, NFL, skiing and tons of baseball and some boxing.

Unless those arn't sports? Soccer isn't the only sport in the world even though i love it and its my favorite. We just got to face the fact that soccer is not popular in America so it wont get coverage on the #1 Sports network in America.

Anyways, I will watch Jim Rome on ESPN, i find their shows pretty cool. PTI and Around the Horn are pretty sweet.

They should call it Sodom And Gomorrah Is Burning. Don't look back guys Jim Rome coming to ESPN could very well mean the end of the world, as well as Bill Walton's new reality show.

PTI and Around the Horn are pretty sweet. Also worth repeating. Though some of ESPN's non-gamecast programming has left a lot to be desired in the past, these seem to be two relatively fresh (insofar as they are a bit similar to each other) shows that are both worth watching. Only downfall is the host of Around the Horn is a bit annoying, but thankfully he speaks the least out of the 5 panelists.
