I also like Steve's Digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/) which is another excellent resource for camera reviews.
This new Nikon looks pretty slick. I really like the 10x zoom, which is the highest on the market for cameras in this price range.

Yeah I like Steves as well. During PMA i check him out as he does the daily reviews during the show.
The old coolpics that had the swivel lens were top-picks when they came out. I am kinda glad they are coming back with this style.

Yeah, Steve does a great job.

I'm glad they brought it back too. It's unique. And since I already have a couple of Nikon digital SLRs (the D1 and a D2H) and I got my wife a Nikon SQ about four years ago, buying from Nikon again seemed like a no-brainer.
The main reason I wanted to get her a new digital is that the SQ is pretty cool, but it's features are dated now. And I did look at reviews for all the other major digi point-and-shoot models, but the S4 looks like it has a lot more to offer.

I am shopping for a 4-5 megapixel camera. When I checked Consumers Report, they list Canon Powershot A95 as one of their top picks, although this camera was introduced more than a year ago. Furthermore, the price of this camera has not gone down in the past year. Should I seriously consider this camera?
I also quickly flipped through the websites listed above but could not find out which cameras do they recommend. Apart from Consumers Report, what other sites provide such info?

The biggest gripe I have about the S4 is there is no image stabilization. But I tend to be full of nervous energy so I can never hold still anyways. I just got the Panasonic DMC-FZ5 for my dad though, 12x optical zoom, around $380 at Circuit City with a coupon code. Probably doesn't have the aesthetic pleasure of the S4, if that's important for whoever uses it.

I was thinking of buying the Kodak P850...12x zoom w image stable...and you have a movie mode w/ zoom as weel...and the sound will auto down when zooming so you do not get that motor effect sound during the vids...plus it is able take on add on lens's..Only thing I really do not about the kodak (new cameras)..is the batteries...though a second extra cost little...they really suck power. I have bought 3 Kodaks...and support is tops!..plus firmware updates are good!..I have a 3meg..a 5meg..but the 8meg of the p850 to me as a novice is very grabbing. plus you can grab one for $420-450 range.
But I am still waiting?? For a the christmas season..I know the price will go way down.
2nd choices a Nikon..or cannon
