Friday Dec 9 we will know what the official ball will look like. You think adidas will hit or miss. Soccer.com already has the ball listed at $130. What do you guys expect from this new ball and which has been your favorite. I really liked the one used in '94. Simple black and white design.

Hmm.. I wonder what it will be like.. Here's a little bit of info on how it will be...

CEO Herbert Hainer gave little away about the design of the ball, which is due to be presented in Leipzig on Friday. Nevertheless, he said it would be better suited for South American soccer players as well as fly "more accurately than other balls."

"The ball is softer, it allows better control than ever. That's what most players want, particularly the South Americans," he said, adding that the weight and aerodynamics of the ball would remain constant throughout a game.

I heard on a soccer newscast, perhaps on FSC, that the new ball would become public two days before the draw.. Not sure if they had correct info but that would be today unless we missed it..
I'll go check just in case but I would think it would have found it's way here already if true.. ;)

Nope.. Not a thing anywhere.. I guess I can wait 2 days..

It looks like a maxipadNo it looks like 4 maxipads stuck to a size 4 Brine Ghost.

WTF seriously isn't there something (like a rule) about the number of panels required for a match ball to maintain its shape and rigidity?

Well, if you want to get technical, it looks like six maxipads.

Yeah, the panel design is very unconventional. We have to wait and see how it reacts during game play. I'm sure we'll get used to as time goes on

i work for adidas nyc, and i was in charge of the launch today. what a madhouse, the ball is pretty cool, the whole point of those weird panels is to provide more surface area on a strike, rather than spread it out over many panels. there are only 16 panels on this ball.

the 2002 ball was nice. I wonder if I can still get my hand on one?

I heard its first appearance will be during the St-Etienne v Lyon match this week-end. Not sure, anyway one of the L1 championship match.

You can never go wrong with the classic look of the Tango.......

I really liked the ball, pelius 2?, that they used in the Conf Cup this summer in Germany and for the U19 in Peru. Kind of a white/bronze look with black paneling and red trim.

Adidas stuff rocks (check the screen name) and Nike stuff sucks !!!

Oh, decent looking ball BTW. It'll grow on me.
