so, Catfish is busy will a bunch of stuff and asked me to start the match threads, so if everything really goes in the shitter, blame him for not starting these.
i'm not feeling good about this one. Arsenal didn't look too good against Newcastle to start the season, hoping for a draw.
ha'way the Gunners!!
this also needs to be stickied :)

My Saturday evenings are usually spent preparing for my game the following day (for the american football team I play for) but this Saturday thats going out the window (and maybe we will win this week) and I am betting on an arsenal win aswell

2-1 The Arsenal.
RVP with the winner.
Rick gets a few pints of his choice of beer for a pregame and I make my 2000pm train ride back to Scotland a happy gooner.

our back four must be organized, especially if owen is playing, and we are gonna have to get down in dirty in the middle, parker is a great dm and will give us problems going forward, so hopefully reyes knee is alright.
2-1 gooners.

If we go Lauren-Campbell-Swiss Tony-Toure as the back four, then my nerves will be calm.

Anyone pick up any knocks against Ajax? Didn't see the match, listen to it, or see any injuries listed in any of the newspaper reports.
Barring none, I dread our trips up north almost as much as Rick. They're damn tricky. Only Bergkamp's wonder Goal of the Year in 2002 has brought us much joy up there....I see us scrapping for a 1-1 draw, with another Cygan exposure early on and a late goal from Cesc to snatch a point.

LOL.....I told Bluto to start the thread. I planned ahead, knew I would be out of town and not have access to the Internet.
I know Arsenal haven't been the offensive machine they once were, but NUFC are a tad overrated starting with their defense (Boumsong = BUST!)
I do rate Emre and Luque on NUFC besides the obvious choices Alan Shearer and Owen.
A Catfish special coming right up....2-0 to the Arsenal!
P.S. Gunner Phan, you rule!

It will probably be Taylor and Bramble in defence which is the best we've got and Bramble plays much better with Taylor.
Emre and N'Zogbia are out so that's bascially our entire midfield gone.
Starting XI should be:
Given
Elliot Bramble Taylor Ramage
Luque Parker Bowyer Solano
Shearer Owen
Although don't be suprised if Luque and Bowyer don't start. Faye will replace Bowyer and god knows who'll replace Luque....Ameobi probably.

Reyes is out.
Not that anyone cares  . That kid has not been 100% fit in the recent games IMHO and he needs some time out.
This is not going to be an easy match cause Newcastle is a highly unpredictable side, they should have been a very good side but so far this season they have failed to live up to the expectations everyone have of them. Still, their home record is very good and our away record is very poor. Some things I would like to see is Cygan to stop playing and Lauren to play in the left with Eboue in the right. Also, Hleb has returned and I would like to see more from him. Is Owen and Emre playing? Things would be easiler if they are not playing.
I predict 2-1 to us and Sourness to be sacked to the joy of all Newcastle fans.

I'm off up to Newcastle for this one, so hopefully the lads will put in a performance. Even with half a team we looked a lot better with Lauren at left back last night, so I hope Wenger persists with it. With Reyes out and Hleb only just back, I think the team pretty much picks itself in the midfield and up front.

Hoping for three things, if these go well we ensure victory.
1) Defense - Senderos is put in the starting lineup and either Toure covers LB or put Eboue at right and Lauren at left.
2)Pires plays well, or at least some good passes.
3) Gilberto plays well.
Other than that we know what to expect from Toure, Sol, Lauren, Fab, Lungdberg, Henry, and now even RVP.

I like the idea of giving Senderos another run out but with Chelski next I'm betting that Wenger goes back to Sol. I really wish Wenger would continue to experiment with different formations. With the form of Senderos and no LB, this would be a perfect time to play a 3-5-2 with bergkamp or hleb behind the 2 strikers. We'd shred the Toon defense. However, there isn't a chance that Wenger will try it. I can't blame him since any dropped points to Newcastle would be a real blow but it still sucks to leave one of our good CBs on the bench while playing a kid at one FB spot and an out of position FB at the other.
I expect to see the squad/formation that michaec has. Hopefully Wenger doesn't feel the need to restore Cygan to LB after the comments he made about people unfairly blaming Cygan.
I'll predict a 2-1 victory for Arsenal. Owen scores early as our road nerves hit again. Given makes great saves and we go into the half still behind. A Henry free kick gets past Given early in the 2nd. Then Hleb breaks his duck  in injury time to give us a much needed victory on the road.
