I am an Ameican traveling to Manchester from February 19th-24th. I would love to see the City vs Arsenal match on the 22nd. Any suggestions on getting tickets or seating locations. I promise that I will wear blue at the match!

I've flown over for games a couple times, and unless you have friends there who can get tickets for you, I would urge you to contact the team as soon as possible. I am pretty sure they still sell individual game tickets and that they go on sale 4 to 6 weeks in advance. I know you can order them by fax (with a CC#), and it's likely that they take orders through their web site (http://www.mcfc.co.uk/) as well.

As an alternative, you could go the Blue View (http://www.blueview.co.uk/) and post this request on their message boards. The site is very popular with local fans, so you might well get bombarded with responses.

All I can remember for certain about locations is that the away fans are in part of the North Stand (not a stand anymore, of course, but still called that). I don't remember whether they are on the Kippax side or by the Main Stand. Everything is under the roof except for the lower rows and a temporary section popularly known as the Gene Kelly Stand (they're 'singing in the rain').

Near Maine Road is a pub called the 'Parkside' (or something very much like that). If you go there before the game, you'll find considerable numbers of very friendly Blues. The signs on the bathroom doors will tell you all you need to know about the neighborhood when there isn't a game on (it's something forbidding use of the bathrooms for buying, selling or ingesting illegal drugs). There are several bus routes that go by the stadium, and a cab from the city center isn't too expensive (5 Pounds or so).

Thanks for the valuble info! Can't wait to get over there for the match. I am going to try a post on the site you reffered me to. I guess this will be close to one of the last City matches at Maine Road?

One of them, yes. The final game will be May 11 against Southampton.

I recieved confirmation from the ticket office. I quote "you will be very hapy to know that I've sold you a ticket very near the half-way line, next to the dug-outs"

Does this mean near the players benches?

In my two trips, I've always been near the goals, so I'm not certain, but I believe that the benches are on either side of midfield in front of the Main Stand.

The only possible drawback is that if you are low enough down, you will not be protected from the rain that falls quite often in Manchester.
