Just read one of the thread on here asking who was our biggest rival and got to thinking :
Are we anyone's ?
I can't find a team that would put us ahead of their rival list.
Can you ?

These days, that's probably true. Although it's due more to recent results than historic "rivalry." In this regard, Italy doesn't have any true rivals in the soccer sense (kinda like France). Teams like Brazil, Germany etc. are rivals in the sense that they are direct competitors for the same trophy we want, but otherwise there isn't any substantial rivalry there either.

Dude, seriously, you better hope Italy never beats France, cos if we do, you will see pictures of it for the rest of your life. Your great-grandkids are gonna be receiving wierd emails from someone showing them the pictures. :)

Ok, you're right... I've taken it too far. I'll stope with the pictures from 2000.......
98 is still fair game though right?

Seriously though, it would be great to meet in Germany wouldn't it..... At least it would mean that both sides have advanced past the second round....

Bah, humbug, I don't even care about '98. :)
Yes, it would be great to meet, especially given our group.
And please, smack Korea around if you can. France would no longer be Italy's biggest rival if you guys could hook us up. ;)

Wouldn't the Belgians pick the Dutch instead? Or maybe just the Walloon half, while the Flemish half supports Holland. :-D
You're probably England's most important rival, since Scotland has basically ceased to be a good footballing nation.

What about some of the former colonies? Algeria, Senegal (especially after 2002), Cote d'Ivoire?

I don't think France is anyones biggest rival. Maybe only the Italians hold a grudge for Euro2000.
But France's biggest rival should be Germany for the semifinals losses at the hands of a much weaker team in 86 and 82. That goalkeeper in 82 WC also managed to permananetly disfigure the French forward. Worse still, he did not even get booked.

i still know people that get sick from those game... it wasn't a good thing though because a lot of people got that hate feeling towards germany back... but i don't blame them because we felt like the world was against us after what happened, made no sense...
