Meanwhile, Wenger has rushed to the defence of Pascal Cygan who has come under heavy criticism following his display aginst Bolton Wanderers in The Premiership last weekend.
The Frenchman has been deployed in an unfamiliar left back role and struggled at The Reebok Stadium.
"Sometimes critics look at easy targets," countered Wenger. "I don't think Cygan had a bad game.
"I am ready to discuss that subject with people who criticise him and analyse the game with them."

Open invitation for you lot I thought, although it doesnt say when he's going to make a couple of weeks available in his diary :D :D

He would make us all look stupid in any debate about football, even if we think we are onto a sure thing in the 'Cygans crap' debate!

I'd love to ask him why Cygan wasn't at fault for his non-clearance that lead to the first goal and why he can't be blamed for being completely out of position for the second (although Gilberto really should have just kicked the ball into the stands). Then maybe we can go back and admire Cygan's positioning (in the center of midfield instead of LB) on Bullard's goal for Wigan in that game. Wenger is a football genius but pretending that Cygan is playing ok at LB is a simply a joke.

Thats a fair comment. Personally I really think its unfair that the press don't berate Henry after he scores a Hat-Trick. Obviously if you score 3 the other team is rubbish, and thus if you fail to score 5 you just are not trying hard enough....
