sadly, I'm afraid Washington has gone as far as they will go. Every win after this will be like a dream for me. Already 6 wins in a row, a playoff birth, and Chris Carter eats it ("WILL NOT make the playoffs!"). I'm starting to feel like sarabella last yearPeople the offense looked bad because they played the #1 defense in the NFL. Have you seen the Seahawks pass defense it is awful woeful. Defense and ball control offense wins championships. Alexander will be stuffed and force Hasselback to throw all day. Portis will rush for 100 and Brunell will throw for 280 yards 3TD.

Seattle's only given up one 100-yard rusher on the season (Barber), and their defense is good when it matters. What happens between the 20s is irrelevant on the scoreboard. But let's break this down a bit, Jaypro, since I'm in the mood for debate. :p

OFFENSE:

Total offense: Seattle #2, Washington, #11
Rushing offense: Seattle #3, Washington #7
Passing offense: Seattle #13, Washington, #21
Scoring offense: Seattle #1, Washington #13

DEFENSE:

Total defense: Washington #9, Seattle #17
Passing defense: Washington #10, Seattle #25
Rushing defense: Seattle #5, Washington #13
Scoring defense: Seattle #7, Washington #9

Seattle's defense is actually ranked above Tampa Bay in scoring defense AND rushing defense, just to display a comparison. They bend but they do not break when the time comes to hold teams out of the end zone. Only Chicago has yielded fewer touchdowns.

Seattle's run defense is quite stout, which spells trouble for a Joe Gibbs offense which needs to establish the running game to be sucessful. And forgive me for not being overly concerned with the #25 passing defense facing the #21 passing offense. All the 'Skins pass plays are slip-screens to Moss, Portis half-back option plays, and tosses to Cooley over the middle.

Seattle has the most sacks in the league as a team this season, has arguably the best offensive line in the league, and has committed the second fewest turnovers in the NFL this season.

The game in Washington could have gone either way in overtime, but the 12th man is going to be a major factor in Seattle. Just ask the Giants. Seattle should be able to move the ball more authoritatively than did the Redskins, and that will be the difference in the game.

27-14 is the call, and damn, I should replace Jay Mariotti on Around the Horn. :D

I see Seattle winning it 31-13. The Redskins really will have no chance unless they get the offense going and I don't think they will.

I'm sure he'll be questionable until later in the week. You never know with a groin injury. We Mags of all people should know that. :o

A more important focal point might be Portis. Both shoulders are apparently still bothering him.

Psh, I've been watching him drain 3's for four years now. The kid is a scorer. Not sure how he'll do on the next level though (where people can actually defend him 1 on 1).

Yea, I felt that way when I picked them to win it all last year. That worked out well.

Picked Duke to win it all last year? Why not, pretty good pick.

They choked and lost me my pool. However, I will just have to pick them again this year. :D

Watch out. Rarely, if ever, does a preseason #1 win it all. I think UConn was the last to do it. Then again, I think Duke has as good a chance as anyone.

A more important focal point might be Portis. Both shoulders are apparently still bothering him."No one is giving us a chance, because it's Seattle," right cornerback Shawn Springs said. "I was watching [television] and they laughed about the Redskins going to Seattle and they laughed at our offense. They talked so bad about our offense not knowing that we played Tampa Bay, and they were extremely impressive."

After losing to the Redskins on Oct. 2, Seattle reeled off 11 straight wins before losing the regular season finale, 23-17, on Jan. 1 at Green Bay. In winning 13 games, Seattle played four playoff teams and went 2-2, beating Indianapolis and the Giants while losing to Jacksonville and the Redskins.
He should be back the real question is Taylor.
Thanks for the stats.
