"...Meantime, Adu's international image is about to receive a major boost. He confirmed that he has been invited to play in an international charity match in Duesseldorf, Germany, on Dec. 22 to raise money for poverty-relief efforts. The captains of the two squads will be Real Madrid superstars Ronaldo of Brazil and Zinedine Zidane of France"

The legend exceeds the reality. He would do better to not show up and let everyone think he's great then to play and destroy his reputation. Also, if he were to get hurt, there goes his camp and I'm sure Arena would not be happy

The defenders are usually pretty laid back in these charity matches. I wouldn't worry about it.

It doesn't take physical contact to blow out an ACL.

Should we keep him in a bubble til camp then? =)
He's going to be playing rec league soccer, but even less physical. Everyone at this game will have just as much to lose by an injury.

Charity matches are about raising awareness. What other American has the profile to do so?
No biggee. Hope he enjoys the trip...and keeps his mouth shut!

Bubble boy. :D
You know I was giving you a hard time. But seriously ask Chris Armas about non-contact knee injuries.

I'd say that Beasley, whom I think has played in a similar kind of exhibition.
But anyway, I agree; hope Freddy enjoys the match and plays well. Don't see how this matters one way or another re: his chances for making the "06 WC roster, though.

He'll come on with 20-30 mins to go. He's a spark off the bench don't you know?

Yeah, but you can also do that in a light practice...
If you have that attitude, might as well hang up the boots for good. Especially since he has no lagging injury.
