What do you Leeds types make of this rumor? I've got no way to gauge it (other than we could certainly use help in the back). There's no way Venables would actually sell Woodgate, is there?

I saw this rumor scotched somewhere a couple of days ago. There's no way Woodgate gets sold. Duberry is supposedly on his way out (I believe to Birmingham), and that would leave Leeds with only three proven central defenders - Woody, Matteo, and Radebe.

If Rids and Venner would be both hounded out of their jobs if Woody left.

There are a few players that this team needs to be built around and Woody is one of them. There is not a better centreback in all of England.

Soccernet.com reporting Leeds have accepted a £9 mil bid for Woody....

9 million. Even with Fowler now heading to Man City.

This is a travesty. What is the board doing?

Not a good day for the Tykes. You have my deepest sympathy.

P.S. Can we have Kewell :)

I really feel for Leeds right now. This could happen to any team out there.

Woodgate is an untouchable. If the board sells him they must be in really dire financial straits. I don't understand why they couldn't forsee that we weren't going to make the Champions League every year? Buying Seth Johnson for 7mil was the height of the excess. Like Splargy says, heads will roll if Woody goes. The pressure from the fans will be enormous. Who's next? Smiffers?

I guess I should have checked soccernet sooner. Fee agreed with Newcastle, now just awaiting personal terms and a medical. Simon Jose of the Leeds United Independent Fans' Association says it best...

Jose said: 'I cannot believe they (the board) are this stupid.

'I don't think they really know just how angry we are because I've been receiving e-mails from members on this, and they are from all walks of life.

'Many talk about the gross incompetence of the board and expressing their disbelief at what is happening at our once great club.

'I think the bottom line is some of the directors now have to go. It's as simple as that. They cannot be allowed to continue, not after getting us in such a mess.'

What an amazing fall. :(

According to soccernet.com

"Leeds has been anxious to reduce its wage bill and ease debts that stood at 77.9 million pounds at the end of June 2002 following heavy spending by former manager David O'Leary."

With that much debt there will be more players sold this summer.

There are no words to describe how angry/dissapointed/killing feeling/sad i feel right now.

Rumour has it that Venables has resigned which will be announced at a press conference tomorrow. That's not definate though.

What's our starting lineup looking like now? This is going to hurt for a while.

Man, Leeds supporters better hope there are several more Ryan Milner types in the youth system. Is it all O'leary's fault, or is Riedsdale to blame as well?

Ryan Milner? Riedsdale?

And while I don't agree with the war in Iraq, it simply ain't an oil war.
