Hello all,

I'm interested in picking up another redcurrant shirt, but I'd like the special Champions League numbering we're using this year. The official shop doesn't seem to have them, and neither does the Champions store.

Anyone know where I can pick one of these up?

soccerplus claims to have them, their websites sucks, but they always answer the phone and are quite easy to talk with over the phone.

subsidesports.com had them for sure and they may still do.

Very cool - thanks for the tip!

Found the one I want:

The curve on the Nike name lettering does not look right on a jersey that doesn't have the supporting Total 90 design (like our 04-05 kits). I'd rather see the Optima-based Premiership lettering.

Hmm. I don't know.

I don't like the Premiership lettering, for a couple reasons. I don't like the white outline - muddies the sharp gold-on-redcurrant. I also don't like the typeface - I don't like the curves on the top and bottom of the numbers. I like each stroke to have the same weight. That's why I vastly prefer this new Champions League numbering that we're using this year - hope we stick with it when the new shirts are unveiled.

TH's 14 looks better in that typeface than RvP's 11.
I still don't understand why the Premiership doesn't just allow the teams to use their own letter/number style in EPL competition.

I actually prefer the Premiership lettering.

Hmm. While the two ones are awfully close together, I still don't agree. I just don't like the wavy serifs on Prem lettering.

This is actually one of the things that I really like about the FA's system - teams earn the right to wear the Premiership lettering. I like the fact that teams in lower levels have different lettering, and that when a club like West Ham gets promoted, they get to sew the Premiership letters on. Not that we really need to worry about that.... ;)

I think the # 11 on the CL v.Persie shirt doesn't even look like a number. :o

I think the best thing would be the plastic gold EPL printing. It is a nice font and shiny like the 02 sponsor.

Personally I hate all lettering and patches on shirts. I have only ever done it twice. A DB10 when he first signed for us, and a TH14 in 2002. Apparently after 7 years I'd forgotten exactly why I hated it and decided to inflict the torture on myself again.

Bottom line is after not very long at all of regular wear and tear the patches get very messed up. My 95 JVC Bergkamp shirt would still be passable even today if it wasnt for the patches biodegrading on the back of it :)

I wonder if the CL numbers would wear better. They appear to be affixed (screened?) the same as the O2 logo....

hrmm... Like Dave, with purposeful intent, I never get lettering on my kits.

The premiership one looks better though.
