Rumour has it that Paul turned down a transfer from Lincoln City as he didn't want to drop down two divisions. The transfer would have been made during the next transfer window.
Paul is currently getting no playing time with Derby. He isn't even on the bench.

I just read the story. It doesn't mention his playing time but I'm sure we can all sympathize with Pesch's feelings about dropping two divisions.
Another story mentions Pesch scoring twice again Notts County in a behind closed doors friendly earlier this week implying that he may again be under consideration for a spot on the first team. Sadly,, he was not even on the bench today.
I wonder how refusing the transfer will effect the attitude of Derby management in regards to Pesch for the rest of the season.

He`ll be 36 of 37 by 2007 if I have my numbers correct. That may be a bit long in the tooth but what the hell, I`d love to see it. His pro career started in the CSL with the Toronto Blizzard, why not finish it in MLS in his home town.
I figured his new family ties might keep him in England but if the rumours are true, perhaps that won`t be an issue, sadly for Pesch.

It's true that he scored twice against Notts in a behind closed doors game in the week and Phil Brown reckons Pesch is still very much in his plans 'transfer plans?'
Despite not being in the team at the moment Pesch is a huge favourite among us fans, he gives everything every game and always looks likely to score.
As for joining Lincoln, this is the first time I've heard that, and returning to Canada, well a few months ago on local radio, he said England feels like home now because his kids were born here and he's settled in Birmingham. I've heard no rumours about his private life which is strange in Derby. Round here rumours fly with no substance at all.
Don't worry about his age. He's still really fit and sharp.

Well, I won`t elaborate. If you guys haven`t heard anything any rumours, I`m sure what I`ve heard is just b.s.
I`m glad to hear that he his a fan favourite. He seems to have been exactly that everywhere he has played.
It`s not hard to like the guy as he rushes around like a terrier with his hair flying in all directions.
As was mentioned elsewhere, back in his Canadian Soccer League days, he would single handedly destroy other teams defences ... and he was just a kid.

The guy is like 84 years old. I highly doubt he could play at an MLS level anymore. Derby County aren't exactly world beaters and if he can't get a game for them......

You're so wrong about Pesch, yes he is out of the team at the moment but he's still involved in the squad. He's played and played well this season and the fans at Derby want him in the team more often. BTW I'm a Derby season ticket holder. Oh, and before you dismiss me as another Limey MLS hater, my second team is the Revolution.

I think he might be the only one. :p Although I have run into a few that are familiar with a club of the teams in MLS.

Both you and Crazy Yank and whoever else may want to know. There are a few of us, just look on the MLS boards of bigsoccer, apart from me there's Lillywhite 'O.K. the poor bloke married a Yank' and RichardL, whom I can bring to mind immidietly and there must be others on these boards not to mention thousands not on these boards.
BTW on the Pesch personal life rumour front, I've been asking around at work and it appears there's nothing wrong in his personal life. In fact 'Pesch's missus is chief exec at Birmingham' Pesch was doing some in stadium studio T.V. work at this week's Birmingham v. West Ham game, I don't think he'd have been there if Karren was about to bop him round the head.
As far as other Canadian players are concerned, we've had Andre Hainault from Montreal Impact training at Moor Farm and playing in practice matches for a few weeks now, it sounds like he's doing pretty well.
How is he thought of in USL and the Canadian system?

Regarding Hainault, I don't have much of an opinion on him from a USL perspective but he made a good impression with our U20's in the WYC. Despite their apparent poor performance in their group (disappointing 1-1 tie to open vs Syria, outgunned in subsequent losses to Colombia and Italy), they were outstanding in qualifying in CONCACAF, beating Mexico, Honduras and Jamaica in Honduras and Hainault did very well.

Oh God no. If pecsh can play on MLS Toronto that would be very sad. We need talent to be competitive. Pesch best days where 5 + years ago. Our best coach in Canada ever Holgar wanted no part of him. Now years later toronto does not need him. He is a 3 rd 4th Div player now.
MLS Toronto needs to be about speed talent and youth with a mix of Imports to add stability.

5+ years ago? He did well with Sheffield United a few years back. I think he still has a few more years left in him in England.

seriously. He was good up until last season. His best days are behind him now, but I'm sure he could make an MLS squad, maybe not a starting XI though.
