Quite an observation. Can you tell me where those few others get THEIR European passports.

Great work compiling that list. Here's another addition:

Ian Feuer, G, Derby County

Living in the past my friend. Derby was two clubs ago for Feuer. Currently he has no club but I will add hiim to the list because of his two games for Tramere Rovers earlier this year on a short-term loan.

Fizroy Simpson is from Jamaica, NOT T&T, he was one of the foreign born players Jamaica recruited.

You could say that with a smile. Sorry for the typo.

When players are loaned, I count them as playing for the team to which they are loaned. E.g. McBride counts as an Everton player and Espinal as a Taranto player. Since I have not included Serie C1, he is not included in my list.

Those players from Tridinad and Tobago and Jamaica are great in Europe, but cant play together in their respective national teams.

You are right, but I'm sure IF these players train enough together and gel as a unit, they will be a force to play aganist. The problem is, T&T and Jamaica rely to much on these foreign players when they probably have more commited, skillful, hard working players based right at home locally, these foreign players just walk onto these international teams without even playing one or 2 practice games with the local players to gel properly with them, especially Trinidad and Tobago, we need to have more faith in the local players and give them the proper exposure.

Read this and tell me what you think:

By the way, did you read this also, remember this guy, he's wanted by Celtics, Liverpool and Newcastle United also:

I strongly support that article. This is why European players do well. They play in the same league for the most part. Also, here the Major League Soccer players when together, they do well because they play and practice a lot with each other. So, when the real game comes, they are ready. But i agree with you.

Martin,

I recently pulled Migs off my YA list because I came to suspect that he isn't US-eligible but only has a green card. Do you have information to confirm otherwise? I'd love to know for sure.

Question: I know we all tend to be a bit Euro-centric when we talk about "abroad", but how many (if any) CONCACAF players are abroad in Asia or South America?

Martin Fischer
19 Feb 2003, 04:34 PM
1. The data base I use lists Migs as an American. I don't know.

2. I only list Euro club players, because I don't have good data on Asia and SA.

From the list of Costa Ricans abroad in today's La Nacion:

Argentina: Bernie Scott (realiza una prueba con la reserva del Boca Juniors). Bolivia: Froylán Ledezma y Kurt Bernard (The Strongest). Hong Kong: Ricky Cheng (Happy Valley).

Castro hasn't played for Rubin Kazan yet, I believe he is to join the after the UNCAF tournament.

Also...Wilson Munoz is back in Costa Rica playing for Saprissa, and I believe Ivan Guerrero has left Coventry.
