That when the pricks on the scum board edit my posts, they tried to be funny, ffs I'm trying to work here!!.
I know they haven't had much to laugh about in the last 40 odd years, but we have for god sake, much of it at your expense, so live and let live , eh?
Especially you The Dribble, you gotta lighten up, banter is all part of the fun of football, we can't help it if we're better at that as well.
Also it make's your threads look silly& disjointed.
But I suppose I shouldn't mock the afflicted

Give them some slack - how would you feel if you had to live, work and drink with supporters of your local rivals! Especially when they have been so successful! When i'm in the pub sometimes I find it difficult to look Spurs supporters in the eyes. The weight of having watched Arsenal winning 6 championships in my lifetime becomes just too much for me. It wouldn't be so bad if they hadn't been a big club once! When I was a kid my dad used to tell me that Spurs won the double once (I kid you not!), they actually had a great year. They played a kind of football called (if I remember rightly) "Kick and Rush"
Whilst I was a teenager you could have a bit of banter with them because they were more or less our equals - these days it's a bit like shooting fish in a barrel - they are such an easy target.
However you must give them some credit. Every year they come back for more, every year they claim "this is the year - we're moving forward" every year it's a case of ".............(insert name of current manager here) has got us going in the right direction" Every year the Spurs shirts can be seen on the local streets and this year they are still wearing them after the first two or three games.
Even when they put their first team out against Grimsby and lose and then see Arsenal sweeping sides away with a bunch of kids - they still claim they are a big club.
So I would ask you not to be too heard on The Double - it's tough going through life with a massive chip on your shoulder even without the added burden of being cold after living in Arsenal's shadow for so many years.

i wouldn't mind if we let a some stuff slide a little more over there. but, y'know, i think mods are a little bit like referees. first and foremost, you want consistency - and i think the double's pretty steady. his take is 'you're not gonna come on to the spurs boards and rip tottenham, simple as.' and i don't think that's really unfair.
that said, it doesn't necessarily make for the most fun, either. i appreciate the fact that i can post over here generally without worry about grief from rick, coach, or whoever the mods might be. but, then, a modicum of diplomacy doesn't hurt a bit, now, does it? i mean, my feelings about the arse certainly get a bit watered down over here, relative to what i'll put on the spurs boards. and if they didn't, even though rick and coach may not start deleting or carding as quickly the double, it's not as though the 'banter' will stay 'fun' for long. if you guys have the patience for lengthy dialogues of the sort that zani provides, good for you - but it's hardly as though an intolerance of them is irrational.
i don't know what lanesra posted that got edited, so i don't mean to imply that it was out of line. but i feel secure in saying that anyone who wants to make any worthwhile contribution to our boards is welcome to do so. and if some 'banter' gets dropped in along the way, there's no reason that we can't deal with it.
if i'm honest, i suspect that a greater tolerance for 'banter' might correlate to our increasing success on the pitch. your boards have a nice (and deserved) reputation for being fair and open; but, frankly, that's a bit easier when things are going well. if you'll think back to how receptive you felt to piss-takes during your 'dark days of october', you might understand why not all other boards have such a reputation.
cheers.

Worse yet... he's a Met fan living in the shadow of the Yankees! (And if he's lurking, Hi, Iason!)

You know I think its down to a very subtle distinction. Obviously I don't speak for all Arsenal fans, or indeed Spurs fans, but when I take the mick out of Spurs its down to a genuine love of taking the piss out of Spurs fans, where as it seems when Spurs fans take the mick out of Gooners its out of pure hatred...
Obviously thats a genralisation, I know spurs fans that can take a joke and don't imediatly go on the defensive, and I know gooners who also cant seem to get over themselves and earn their reputation they tar all of us with...
As for the The Double being a bit of zealot when it comes to moderating well I think he's just playing to his audience. Seems the Spurs board has quite a tight-knit group of regulars posting so it makes sense to keep those folks happy above all others.
However, over here (while we do have a core of regulars) we also have to contend with a plethora of glory hunters (most of whom now have new user names and are over on the Chelsea boards), vistiors from Chelsea and Man U, and of course the Arsenal America website. And so Coach and Rick need to run a slightly looser ship.
More users = wider range of view points = more liberal moderating
And i cant believe ive rambled on for so long :D

Good post overall but, just based on my experience over at the Chelsea boards the one time I tried to actually have a discussion on something, winning doesn't make you more receptive to opposing viewpoints. I was having a discussion with a couple of Chelski supporters during the whole "Mourinho vs. Wenger" war of words, and it was all fine (though obviously we weren't totally agreeing), until Clan came in, decided to take me to task for saying something as simple as "Wenger gives his honest opinion on everything, so that's why the press like him" and told me to "piss off back to the Arsenal boards". I couldn't say I was surprised, as he's had the reputation for awhile as being one of the least open-minded, most Soviet-like mods on these boards.
I honestly believe that much of the fun of these boards is being able to hear opinions on different topics from supporters of different clubs. If the only people allowed to comment here were Arsenal supporters, this place would get boring after awhile. True, you get the occassional troll who comes on here with something brilliant like "Why don't you all support the French national team?" or "Haha...you suck in Europe", but I find most of the posters here to be highly respectful. They post their opinions and discuss them without getting personal, and add another viewpoint to the debate. It's true that not everyone here likes to hear from opposing supporters, but I think that the core group here is OK with it. I just wish some of the other boards could be the same way.

Indeed the chelski boards are facist and crap... inevitably taking after the qualities of their club. That seems to be the general trend for all the bigsoccer boards of the bigger clubs though, in that they all closely mirror the personalities of the clubs they represent. This board is very open to a very wide range of people, much like Arsenal - and that refers to both those who play on the pitch and those who sit in the stands. There is not much entrenched zenophobic englishness in the organization as a whole, and it's refreshing.

Of course that doesn't explain mad theory being on this board, but I guess there are exceptions to every rule. ;)

Is there a Rugby League forum on these boards?
It seems whatever sport we trounce the Australians at we tend to suffer a reaction. Still, if you offered me this year on 1st january I'd have bit your hand off!!
On a more serious note - the great Peter Crouch is winning me either £64 or £14 depending on whether he is awarded the first goal. I just hope he gets it.
And I've still got 45 minutes on my bet to go.
Every pass is £4
Shot on target £10
Forcing a corner £10
Getting fouled £6
Goal £50
Assist £20
Commiting a foul £ -£6
Booked -£20
Sent off -£50
