Group E: Mexico, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Paraguay

I bolded the 2 teams that I think will make it to the next round, once again I can see all the Asian teams except Japan making it to the next round.

All credibility out the window when picking Saudi Arabia and Paraguay to finish 1 and 2 in a group with Mexico and Ukraine ... next.

And I apologize to whomever I beat to it ...

Why can't people just pick whoever they think will make it before criticizing someone else's picks?

Oh and Paraguay is better than Mexico and always does good against them, look at their past meetings
Par Mex
9 Played 9
3 Won 1
5 Drawn 5
1 Lost 3
8 Goals 6

and if Iran can beat Ukrain in Ukrain, Saudi Arabia can beat them in Germany too.

Next!

Because you're a Newbie ... consider it a rite of passage. We all went through it. Only the BigSoccer brave survive ...

Group A: Germany, France, Japan, Togo

Tough break for Japan, i could see them advancing with a friendly draw, but not this one, then again, the way France played, bowing out in group play is distinctly possible. Togo strikes me as dead meat.

Group B: Italy, Poland, Iran, Ecuador

Italy will advance, no problem. Poland though, could have some problems with Iran, but I still think they should advance. Ecuador still needs to prove that they can actually be something other than manure outside of Quito.

Group C: England, Sweden, Costa Rica, Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast might upset England or Sweden, but the way they backed into the World Cup doesn't give me confidence (interesting to note that if Cameroon had converted a PK, this group might be a carbon copy of England's '02 group save Costa Rica). England and Sweden should advance.

Group D: Holland, Croatia, South Korea, Ghana

I can't pick 15 UEFA teams to advance, so Ghana in an upset over Croatia. S. Korea has lost the form they had four years ago.

Group E: Mexico, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Paraguay

Shev guides Ukraine out on tiebreaker over Paraguay, Mexico advances out of group play for the fifth consecutive time, and the Saudi's look more like they did against Cameroon, than they did against Ireland and Germany last Cup, but still nowhere near Mexico and Ukraine's level (come on, Mexico's hung with Brazil, Germany, and Argentina, and looked good against pretty much everyone save the US (other than their 2-1 win at Azteca), and Ukraine, well, they advanced with plenty of space to spare against Turkey, Greece and Denmark, which is no mean feat).

Group F: Brazil, Portugal, Czech Republic, Angola

The ultimate group of death. Three of the teams that should probably be ranked in the top 8 or so in the world. Czech's i my mind are just a bit better than Portugal and Brazil is Brazil, I hope this doesn't happen, and/or the US plays the Angola role to this group.

Group G: Spain, Switzerland, USA, Tunisia

I firmly believe that the US is basically no better than about a 50/50 chance to advance considering they'll likely be grouped with two strong Euro squads, but I'd like the US chances in this group, if healthy. Spain and Switzerland could go either way depending on how long Spain waits to show up. Not impressed with Tunisia though they look a lil better than previous Tunisia squads.

Group H: Argentina, Serbia & Montenegro, Trinidad & Tobago, Australia

This depends entirely on which Serbia squad plays, the squad that allowed one goal in all of qualifying, or the squad that got rolled up for 7 goals in three friendlies played in August and October.

So, as what would wasting time commenting on such a waste of time qualify?
