Alright guys, time to vote for 1 of the following for the best defensive midfield of all time.

here are the possible canidates:

Julio Ceasar Rosero: Started out with El Nacional, but was picked up by Barcelona in the late 80's and played out his best years with them, including a Copa Libertadores finals appearance. With a team full of stars, he was one of the most overlooked, yet hard working players in the club. Not featured in Ecuador's NT.

Alfonso Obregon: Currently Liga's captain. Played most of his career with the same club, making several apperances in the Copa Libertadores and won a number of championships with Liga. Made over 50 caps for the NT without a goal. One of the hardest working and mentally tough players to ever wear the shirt, he lost his place on the NT to Marlon Ayovi when Suarez took charge of the reigns. Solid club career with Liga.

Edwin Tenorio: The hot blooded captain of Barcelona, el Baron is arguably the toughest defensive midfielder Ecuador ever had. Started out with Aucas before moving to Barcelona. With the NT, he has featured over 60 times. Tough tackler, great ball recovery and can start creative plays. Had spells in Mexico and Bolivia.

Marlon Ayovi: la Vieja is the loyal captain of Deportivo de Quito, where he has spent virtually his entire career. He is a smooth, calm and neat player, very discplined, almost the opposite of E.Tenorio. Cooley takes penalties and he seldomly fails from that position. Has over 60 game capped and 6 international goals. When Ivan Hurtado cannot feature, it is Ayovi who captains el tri.

I voted for Edwin Tenorio. I know he is still relatively young compared to the other choices, but his toughness is so rare in this position for Ecuador, and when he is not playing, his absence is deeply felt. He still has several good years ahead of him.

This was a real tough poll, even though Obregon is my favorite,I had to go with Tenorio only because I'm pretty sure he will play he's 2nd WC.They had the same job to do,but they have different styles,Edwin is hard and agressive, while Obregon is smooth and technical. Tenorio gets my vote for the two WC under his belt.

Oh man, the selection is pretty small, I agree that Rosero was a good player, but he never played that much for the NT.
We are missing important guys like Carabali and Blandon.
But anyways, from those I choose E.Tenorio.

Here is a article on Edwin Tenorio,to me the backbone of the NT.I remember when la tri played in Lima against Peru for the 2002 WC qualafier, the gesture he made to his mates after Mendes scored the equalizer was priceless.Even since that moment Edwin has been one of my favorites even though he plays for Barcelona.I also have the honor of meeting Edwin in a flight from NYC to Ecuador in 2003,He looked tired and in need of rest so I did not want to harass him that much, plus I did not want to piss him off for obvious reasons:D .That same week I saw him again in Manta City when Barcelona was doing preseason training in the BEAUTIFUL beaches de Manta:cool: .It was him who recognized me,then we chatted for about a minute cause he had some training to do.Many people see the Delgados,Mendes and Kaviedes score and give wins, and others see the Hurtado's,Espinoza's,defend our colors, but FEW see the hard work Edwin does when he puts on his #20 jersey and washes out opponents trying to get to our arco.I would never get tired of saying that Edwin is el jugador ecuatoriano mas ARRECHO EVER.http://www.revistaestadio.com/impresa/1498/cont1.htm
